I have my T/C Venture in .308 for hunting to replace my Mini-30 in 7.62x39 witch has done very well at dropping deer. But I am more confortable at an accurate and humaine kill at range with a .308 than 7.62x39. Besides everyone loves shooting the Mini so now she's a plinker, everyone happy.
My CETME in .308 is just fun as hell to shoot, took her out today (first time running her since 2008).

Grammer Nazi has something to say:

"It is 'All of a sudden', not 'All of the sudden.'"

Grammer Nazi has spoken. xD
Yeah, I noticed the next day that it does not sound right.

myself personally i have a savage striker pistol in 308 that is a tackdriver and i am wanting to go to a bolt gun as i typically shoot my encore. I like the 308 as it is a great all around cartridge and since i have a gun that uses it already it makes it nice as i reload for that already. that and the fact that i am looking to get into F-class and spend some time time getting schooled by some of the men on this site. :)

I'll admit I'm on .308 band wagon myself. My friends have AR's and AK's but I just remember shooting my fathers .308 and I just can't pick up anything smaller. I have a Rossi 92 lever action .357 for over 15 years now, a Mossberg 500 12g for Home Defense and when I was looking for a SAGIA .308 in March I came upon the hard to find Kel-Tec SUB 2000 in .40 cal (great BOB firearm do to its size folded) I jumped on it. I like the SUB 2000 but sometimes I feel I should have pick up that .308 when I was looking for it.

Its a NY thing,in PA everyone has a 30-06 or a 270.....With see through mounts of course, just in case your scope fogs up!!!!
It used to be the other way around. When I was growing up and hunting in the northern tier you either owned a 30-06,270 or Winchester 30-30

NYS recently changed hunting rules so a .223/.556 can be used for hunting said:
I recall reading years ago, bullet diameter had to be .223 or larger. Always wondered if the 223 Rem was legal since technically, the bullet was .224 diameter. In upstate NY, 6mm or 243 was a popular caliber.

Had six 308's at one time but down to my last, an fal. Haven't purchased ammo in over thirty years since reloading components are so plentiful, especially military powder and bullets.

They are accurate, affordable to buy(guns and ammo)and very reliable.....I agree with an above post,it's the pre-election craze that makes it seem more evident.

I traded some old WWII swords for my Remington Model 740 about 30 years ago. Fitted with a nice Simmons 3x9 scope, I take this everywhere I go hunting. If I were hunting in the open plains; I would probably bring my 8mm Mauser. I can't describe how far that thing will reach, but I'ts like the Ponderosa ranch. "As far as the eye can see".

Well I wish 308 AR's were not so expensive but I guess the old saying is if you want to play you gotta pay. I would love to add an AR in .308 to my collection.

Even if a .308 AR was still legally obtainable, with really great bolt guns going for up to a thousand dollars less, I always found it hard to justify.
