Someone told me this club (or range) is open to the public. Is this true? Anyone a member or regular visitor there? I can't find any information online other than an address and phone number. Thought I'd ask here before making the call.

TIA

My google-fu is weak apparently. When I first searched I found nothing. Now I find an actual website.

Drove down there over the weekend and took a look, talked to some people and took a drive around the lake. Looks really nice and the new pistol range is state of the art. I think I may be joining this club in early Fall.

Glad I caught this thread. Doing 2 jobs in the next couple months in that area, one is not a 1/2 mile away.

I will have to stop and check it out.

Whortlekill Rod & Gun | Stormville, NY 12582

I was just there yesterday. It is in fact open to the public, but that is for pistol range and trap only. I did not get the prices but it's reasonable. You CANNOT use the rifle ranges unless you are the guest of a member. But speaking with a couple of members, if you come out to trap or shoot pistol and they get to know you it's usually not a problem to get someone to escort you to the range.

The advice given to me was to come out and use the facilities for trap or pistol as much as you can so that you can get to know the member and the facility, then you can consider membership. Membership is a big commitment in both money and time, so it's best to hang out there for awhile first.

Really nice place. Was there a few years ago for a steak and lobster BBQ. They where just building the pistol range. I'll have to drive by and see them finished. The people there are also cool.

Damn for that kind of money I'd go to that state land just north on the map, if you can shoot there.

Damn, def put the joining question to sleep in my mind for that kind of money for sure.

Has anyone actually been there? Is it really, "state of the art" pistol range... lol. Their prices are high from places that I've gone and shot, 25$ for an hour..

Idk might take a ride by and go in one time, but that will probably be it unless it's really nice. Can shoot at Blue mountain for 11$/hr... yes it's outdoor and Whortlekill is indoor...but yeah.
