Who else is into guitars?

What do you play, music/style etc

What's out there for instruction ie who do you like? Albany area sorry

I was in it big in the 80s but life went on and I forgot them. Had a tape lying around and decided I better watch it before the VCR dies. got me going again

Now I find lots of good stuff on you tube; like what I wanted in lessons and didnt get.

Neil Young Old Man, Cowgirl, rising sun (easy) fire and rain, Amie Doobies, Allmans, Johnny Cash all good stuff

about the same story here. I played a lot in the 80s too and then gave my equipment to my son. This past year I picked it up again, trying to remember all the songs I knew back then. Played Hendrix, Zeppelin Pink Floyd. I have to finish learning Classical Gas; halfway there. Just learned Space Oddity and Cinnamon Girl. Learning songs is a bit easier now with Youtube compared to the 80's.

It's something I've wanted to pick up. Mostly folk styles like Jim Croce, John Denver, etc. But there are days I wish I could blast the neighbors out with it. ;)

Maybe we should start a thread for youtube how-to-play videos?

Been playing for at least 15 years now, although it's probably longer to be honest I don't remember exactly when I started.

Oddly enough through all that time I have never owned a guitar worth more than a grand. I have always wanted a PRS custom 24 quilt top, but $5k for a guitar is a lot of scratch. Someday I will own one.

Right now I have a LTD EC-1000 deluxe in blue, and ibanez 7 string, and a squire frankenstien telecaster. I also own a couple bass guitars, a Fender american Jazz and a SX vintage jazz 5 string (cheap chinese bass).

For amps I have a Mesa Dual Recto, Peavey 5150 and an older crate 4X12 (back when you could get them in birch loaded from the factory with vintage 30s).

Been playing since 1982. Stopped playing iwth a band about 1988, got with my friends church band for a out door summer family festivus a few years ago. I have a 1983 strat I bought in 1983, has Dimarzon Fastrack 2 and HS3 pickups in it. J have a Frankenstrat taht looks like a well loved 70's era strat with Dimarzion HS3 pickups in it (think Yngwie) A Epi SES nylon string, A Ibanez RG420 with Seymour Duncan Alt 8 bridge and Dimarzio Evolution neck in it, and an Ibanez RG320 with Dragonfire pickups in it. They all go through a Peavey Vypyr Tube amp.I dont play much anymore thano, my chops suck. Fat guy with the black strat is me

Oh man am I ... I've been playing on and off since the mid 80's ... got out of it for a few years and am back into it... Don't play out anymore just screw around at home and with friends once in a while ... heres some of it in the "extra" room :
Musical instrument Musician Guitar String instrument Musical instrument accessory Left to right:
ESP LTD MH-301 - Neck through mahogany/maple/maple/rosewood added tone block on the bridge- Dimarzio Dominions in both the neck and bridge positions DP244 and DP245
Schecter Diamond series Damien 6 all stock bolt on emg hz's - quite pleased with it for a lower end guitar
Jackson Rhoads RR3 made in Japan Limited factory run of 100 made in 2007 Duncan invaders in it from the factory all stock except the speed knobs
Washburn WI64d - all stock all mahogany neck through - like a Gibson SG on steroids ... and it stays in tune
Some weird limited run of a Fender Squire stagemaster made for a Place called Mars Music ... only ones with a non-reversed headstock - duncans in it bolt on neck... plays really well for a cheap guitar ... all finish stripped
Theres a couple not in the picture
Amp is a Bugera 333xl - pretty much a Peavey XXX ....replaced the EL34s with 6L6 - good sounding amp ... wouldn't gig with it but sweet for at home
Line6 spider and a Marshall ... I run questionable electronics through them first hahaha

Been a drummer in many local bands over the last 25 years. Gave it up this past summer. Just getting harder for me to gather the enthusiasm and energy to go out on the weekends.

P.S. The Damn guitarists are Always to loud. Lol

I'm a lead/metal guitarist....Played & gigged all thru the tri-state (NY, NJ, CT) area since the mid-late 80's (heavy metal bands) and kept playing gigs up until 2007. Last band I was in, was a very cool acoustic band. (little 3 piece band) Did some Allman Bros, Johnny Cash, Stones, Fleetwood Mac, etc etc

Currently have an American Deluxe Strat, Custom Shop Carvin DC400A, Brian Moore i9F, 2 Ovation Acoustics (6 & 12), 1 Takamine Keystone Acoustic, various tube amps, Laney heads & Marshall cabs, multiple pedals, custom pedalboard, etc etc etc....

I was also working with my Producer (and extremely close friend) on a new line of amplifiers, he was designing, but, he passed away, recently....I was doing all the music clips, and sound clips for the new amps...but, after he passed away, I kinda lost my "musical" drive. Yes, I still play, but, I took his passing pretty hard, and lost my ambition to keep playing as hard as I used to.

Although, I recently put a bunch of my sound-clips on my Fed-Book page, and now I'm getting phone calls from a bunch of local rock bands, and drummers that I know! HAHA

I had a princeton reverb, a 1980 strat in yellow, an ES 335, a big gaudy maple jazz guitar of some sort

I still have an SG exclusive with bridge tuners, a humming bird and a deluxe reverb (older).

Looking at a Taylor 512 from 1990s. Its another acoustic and not electric

I our man wins tomorrow, it's mine, I think

I play a little. Started 19 years ago when I was in middle school. Was in a few bands in middle and high school but none since. Mostly just play classic rock, 90's rock, some punk, and blues. I only have 3 guitars though. A Washburn strat I got back in '94 for around $200 new, a Fender telecaster for $275 new about 6 years ago, and an acoustic my dad gave me that he got for around $300 back in the 70's. I'd like to get a few more quality guitars to add to my collection of economy guitars. However, I don't plan on playing in any bands again, so I can't justify the expense. I guess I'll stick to spending my money on guns and ammo for now.

I wish i got into playing guitar when i was younger.it was one thing i always wanted to learn. My son got into in in his teens and had become pretty good but when he went into the Army he quit playing.Ive spent alot of coin on guitars and amps for him and now it just sits in the extra room taking up space.I did toy around with them a couple winters ago but my fingers just dont want to cooperate .
