Had some errands to run. Walked out of the house, got in my car, drove to town. No surprise, I was carrying (normally a legal thing for me to do). Reached into my pocket and realized something was missing......my wallet. Broke out in a cold sweat with the thought that I didn't have my permit with me (or drivers license for that matter).

Anybody else do stupid things like this? :(

It happens. There is no CRIME in not having your permit on you, just the inconvenience of being detained until your status is verified. Do not lose sleep over it.

Never forgot my wallet while I was carrying, but there have been a couple times I've driven all the way to work (nearly an hour away from where I live) and realize I forgot it and the driver's license in it.

Just to prove how much of a proverbial millennial I am, I forgot my cell phone once when I was still in college. It must've looked like I amputated my arm or something, for a while I had no idea what to do (who to call, text to see where my friends were, etc.). It was then and there that I realized that I was too dependent on technology. Now I try to limit my screentime (NY Firearms excluded of course).

Just gave me an idea. Anybody take a pic of their license (driver, pistol or otherwise) and store it on their phone in case you ever forgot or lost the wallet? My train and parking tickets are now on the phone so it seems to be moving in this direction. Just a thought...

At my last job had a commute of about an hour each way. On a handful of occasions I didn't realize I left the laptop at home until I opened my office door. :(

Cgrutt I also keep Drivers license and permits on smartphone.

I always carry my permit in a wallet like holder separate from my wallet. This was recommended to me by my shooting instructor.
At my advancing age (as proven by my original post :( ), that would only mean either one more thing to remember, or one more thing to forget ;)

badge? I want a badge.
NOOOOOOOOOO, you didn't just say that!!!!!
