Depends on whether "not allowed" is a rule or a law.

If appropriate, I have a Sentry Auto Safe in my truck.

I was mainly speaking about law but isn't it the same thing either way you cant have your firearm on you
Courthouses, post office, etc have laws forbidding carrying. Places like malls, movie theaters, etc have no law backing them. They can ask you to leave and that is about it. If you refuse to leave you could be charged with trespassing.

I keep one of those pelican cases and a lock in my car. Have only had to use it once in 5 years. I try to know my agenda before I head out. Remember states like NJ consider a magazine with bullets a loaded weapon so unload your mags.

I LOVE IT!!! the way i look at it is the "law" says its supposed to be locked....HOWEVER i find it hard to believe that is a "criminal" or "threat" is watching you go under your seat and "it looks like your hiding something" they may want to go take a closer look!!! or even if they break into your car and notice a lock box thats going to be their 1st priority!!!! I personally in my truck use the "compartment"(fabric pocket) on the back of my truck seat.....I have random $hit in there papers, wrappers and such just to hide it under!!!!!! the way i look at it is if someone is looking for valuables in your car or truck #1 glove box #2 center counsel #3 trunk and if they see something out of the ordinary aka SAFE or LOCK BOX thats #1.....i know they are under the seat but are in plane sight at the right angle !!!!!! what criminal would ever bother with wrappers and papers behind a seat? MY OPINION

The lock box won't protect anything against a prepared thief. They will thwart the thief that just breaks a window looking for the easy stuff to grab though.

I have a small gun case that has a lockable cable that goes through it. I originally bought it to lock up a gun in my baggage during flights, but it works perfect for the car. Just wrap the cable around one of the seat mounts and your good to go, can be had for around $20-$30. That being said I very rarely use it.
