The attorneys for Washington DC in the Palmer case have asked for a 90 day extension before a judge's ruling takes effect and effectively makes handgun carry legal in our nation's capital.

Currently, DC has until October 22nd to put into place a system which will allow people to carry outside of the home. If they fail to do so, the District would essentially become a constitutional carry area.

DC is arguing that they need more time to either put a system into place or, more likely, challenge the ruling court. The document filed for the extension yesterday hints at the argument DC will attempt to make against carry.

Basically, DC will argue that the entire district should be treated the same as "off-limits" locations such as schools and some government buildings in other states.

The folks on the DC counsel truly need to have a mental evaluation done on them.

"The fact that the District's law is "exceedingly rare" does not mean it is unconstitutional." Nope, your right. And if that's your argument now, your grasping at straws and everybody including the courts knows it.

Let them keep wasting time. They'll really have a melt down when constitutional carry starts.

It also seems along with these idiots in DC , we now have the wonderful state of Malloy who filed their briefs in the appeals suit in the second circut court today ! It seems that " breif " isn't what they filed ! It's 178 pages long and is basicly full of holes according to the Examiner . The challenging atty was so impressed that he said " that it would be almost laughable except that it's trying gut the second amendment " . They relied heavily upon the latest ruling in MD as their basic line of defense ! Between our " unsafe act " and CT ,s appeal . This is going to get good in the second circut court ! I'm going to see if I can't get tickets to theis circus !

DC should be off limits for carry like schools and gov buildings are in some states?

Uhh no. You can't outright ban carry where people LIVE. If DC was just one big government property then fine...but there are neighborhoods and people live in DC...therefore the 2nd should be in full force there.

Someone should tell NYC that.

I'm quite sure someone will let them in on that fairly soon.

So DC will eventually adopt rules that make people prove that they need to carry - like NY. ...and virtually, no one will get a permit. You can't fix stupid.

Delay and foot dragging worked nicely for NY.
Not surprised to see that tactic used in DC

Except that Allan Gura is watching and waiting to pounce again on their foolish ways ! They are gonna keep screwing around till they get real close to the end , then demand another extension so they can craft another foolish bill ! Meanwhile they will have to deal with constitutional carry for all of their failures ! Allan has said that is willing , ready and able is confront them again till they actually do something !
