Is an Uzi legal in NY? Considered a pistol? SBR??

I think only pre-ban would be legal, but don't know for sure.

It is Pre Ban, as that is my middle name. I believe it must have a 16" barrel.

Is it considered a pistol configured like that?

If it has a 16" barrel, I believe it'd be considered a rifle.

No clue but I did shoot a fully automatic Uzi pistol in NY legally and boy was it fun! (07 FFL)

to the best of my knowledge as long as it is a pre ban it should be ok. i don't know the status of parts build guns. here's a pic of what i called my "pimp" uzi. a gun done over by a company called the american historical foundation who typically did some gaudy stuff. i bought this at an auction and at the time got it for less than the going rate for A model uzi's. i found a guy that needed it more than me some years ago. the short barrel on the gun is a dummy bbl. the bbl in the case is a 16" bbl which makes the gun a rifle.

The only Uzi (Postban) that's a pistol is the micro. A pre/post ban one of those is neat.

The Mini and Full size must be preban to be pistols, and never have been transferred as a rifle.

As soon as you put one of those neat stocks on it, with a pistol barrel, it becomes an SBR unless it has a 16" barrel.

So:

Preban or postban micro = Pistol. Weight is borderline for postbans. I've seen plenty of them here, though.

Preban mini = Pistol or evil featured rifle depending on barrel length

Postban mini = Rifle only and evil features apply. Butt ugly too IMO

Preban full size = Pistol or evil featured rifle depending on barrel length

Postban full size = Rifle only and evil features apply. Similarly butt ugly.

YMMV but my recent reading of AWB when I was looking to purchase a micro leads me to this conclusion.

I mean if i were you get a UC-9 but unless you really want a no crap IWI then look for a parts kit maybe try to build it just my opinion
