I clicked on the link - saw it was the You Tube channel "The Alex Jones Network", and promptly closed it before 3 words got out of the talking head's mouth. Alex Jones is a right-wing conspiracy nut job who contends 9/11 and OK City were gov't inside jobs. Yeah, right. This stuff isn't even worthy of commenting on.

Moderators - please close this thread! My head hurts just knowing it exists.
Nessman. If it not worth commenting on and should be "closed" then why did you comment? I posted it to start conversation in general about the topic of government confiscating firearms at some point. When I spoke of this in the past I was always called a "right-wing conspiracy nut job" Although I agree with you about Mr.Jones being a conspiracy theorist and way over out of line about many topics, but that was not the point. If someone is wrong about some things it doesn't make them wrong about everything. I watch ALL news and listen to many peoples opinions as much as it hurts sometimes. I take in all the facts (and lies) and sort it out myself to come up with my own opinion. In this case he is at least correct about them taking firearms away from citizens. My GOOD friend was down there protecting his business and home(connected) and had the military draw their guns on him, his wife, and his children in the middle of the night. He like many of us was stocked up for such an event, food, water, guns, ammo, medical supplies. They took all his guns and left his family with no way to protect themselves in what turned out to be a war zone! So it doesnt matter what catalyst I use to start the conversation. The reality is that many of us are called crazy for believing that the government will take away our arms when we need them most, yet it has been a reality for good law abiding citizens during Katrina.

Pure sarcasm. After reading so many post's here and other places about the conspiracies that people refuse to believe are real, makes me wonder if anyone really reads and pay's any attention to what goes on outside of their little worlds.

I am a realist, to answer your question on how guns were illegally confiscated during Katrina, what would you have the people do? Take up arms against US Marshals, law enforcement and the US Military? Just asking. I was at Katrina during the floods, storms and aftermath. I saw first hand some of what was going on, I DO NOT agree at all with taking people's guns, but I ask again, what should the people have done? If it happens again, hopefully people will be more aware of the long reach and grab that the US Government has!

There was a story of a women who was on her way out of the city when she was stopped by 3-5 US Marshals demanding the guns that were in her vehicle, should she have said no and start shooting?

Each to their own but I am a PATRIOT. I personally would do what I had to do to defend my family and friends, and keep those tools that I needed to defend them. I pray NONE of us ever have to make this kind of choice.

living in fear is no way to live.
You obviously did not watch it, or read everyone's posts. Go back and try again. None of us are living in fear...fyi. Although if shtf down there in NYC...you will be heading up here begging for food and water and protection. No worries I am not that far away and I have an extra spot for you on the compound. :)

if when you say SHTF you mean the United Nations invading the USA and coming to install martial law and NWO tyranny, I think we're safe.

;)
Your stuck on the other thread you have been commenting on. This has nothing to do with the UN. Its about our own government. Did you watch the video?

debating via Argument Ad Youtobium, ain't for me.

..especially when its from notoriously paranoid and demagogic Alex Jones, who lives off of the souls of his loyal sheep.
This is not about Alex Jones( I am not a fan of him myself), its about the reality of what happened down there during Katrina. Guns were confiscated at a time when people needed them most. Which is a violation of the constitution. If it was up to only Bloomy you would not be able to have that 10/22. If they told you that you had to turn it in because the city was a war zone like New Orleans was, would you be ok with it?

um....yeaaaahhh.

this is where I say goodnight...and good luck. :)
Your funny. I am not a bible guy myself, but I know where Foxtrapper is coming from. If things continue on this path things will be a mess. Maybe in our lifetime, maybe during the next generations. We are a young country with a cocky attitude, people think things are how they are and will be like this forever while their rights are being slowly taken away. Rome was not built in a day, but it fell in one.

I think there's definitely a middle-ground to your "what should she have done" question, bud. Maybe she should have just cited her 2nd ammendment rights and stood her ground, for starters.
It wasnt that kind of atmosphere down there, it was not the kind of situation you could argue your rights, any normal situation I think you are correct though. When they are kicking the doors in of good citizens to take their guns....there isnt much to talk about.

With the woman you were referring to, there weren't any doors being kicked down. She was loading up her vehicle after finally closing her bar down, when the deputies approached her.
My point is there was NO arguing your rights with the level of aggression that was being used. The orders given to the military were to confiscate firearms by any means necessary.

Please free to state or even debate beliefs on this thread, but please do not insult each other or each others beliefs. I started this thread to bring up the point of the Government confiscating firearms during the aftermath of Katrina. This is a firearms forum, not a religious discussion forum. Feel free to PM each other with your insults, at least the rest of us don't have to read your negativity. Everyone has their own beliefs....debate them sure, but NO insults please. Thank you all.

Federal agents should not be confiscating guns from people ever. But going down in a hail of gunfire from US Marshals when trying to stand your ground because of your firm belief in gun rights in the aftermath of a natural disaster would do a lot more damage do you and your family than just giving up the guns. Even if you killed the agents and got away, you would be locked up for life or put on death row for murdering federal agents. If it was in the middle of a justifiable insurrection that had popular support and the agents of a tyrannical regime were coming specifically to kill you and your family it would be different. Being alive generally allows people to be more helpful to their families than being dead, but I'm sure there are many exceptions.
Like I said, Each to their own. No one is looking to get killed or ever kill anyone Leo's Military..etc. obviously. It is not an issue of beliefs, its an issue of survival at that point. My question to you is....if the whole country has turmoil at once and the military is going door to door kicking them in to
take firearms, are you going to give yours up? I would rather be judged by twelve then carried by six.

My thought is that you would end up carried by six if the military were going door to door kicking them in to take firearms and you tried to use yours to fend them off. My life is worth more than my guns. If they were just asking people to turn in their guns without kicking doors in, I'd keep my mouth shut at least about the ones they couldn't possibly know about. I think the best move would be to carefully hide some guns and ammo that nobody knows about and keep your mouth shut if you want to have them in a true SHTF situation.
We will leave it at that then. I respect your opinion and the choices you would make.
