IMO, Tompkins county may be one of the most beautiful areas in the lower 48. I love visiting there. Too bad at its heart is the Peoples' Republic of Ithaca. Ithaca's dominance has go to be the reason we haven't heard a peep of protest from Tompkins over the USA (Unconstitutional Safe Act). Are there any Tompkins residents here who can fill us in on ANY movement of the county legislature in this direction?

As far as I know, Broome County hasn't done anything either.
At least Broome is talking about it. This, from an email yesterday:

Jerry F. Marinich
Chair of the Legislature
District 10 (Towns of Chenango
& Fenton)

Thank you for your e-mail. I appreciate hearing from county residents like yourself.

We plan on discussing this issue when we meet again.

Tompkins County board is 10 Democrats and 5 Republicans. If they do vote it will probably 10-5 to uphold the laws as written.

They voted down rifle hunting for deer last spring 10-4

Tompkins is about the most liberal county upstate.

Even worse; I just counted 11 D's, 3 R's, and one not labeled.

Just read the Bio's of the first three people. That will explain everything.

THIS legislature will do whatever Albany (Cuomo) tells it to do.

To many hippies there! What ever happened to a time when hippies were about freedom and rights, and keeping the Government out of our lives??? They are now yuppies, or should I say yuppie/ hippies OR AKA Yippies. Whatever they are called now, they should be ashamed of what they have turned into and stand behind now.

I can guarantee you that Tompkins won't make a statement against it. However you that live in Tompkins should still contact your legislators, they still represent you.
