Those birds were so heavy, the tailgate fell of the truck !!! I tried to do some bird hunting today, but the dogs couldn't get around to well in the snow and then it started to rain/sleet,so I went home.Looks like you had a good time and the dog got a workout too.

Hanna the wonder dog worked beautifully inspite of the snow.
We were all bushed after only two hours of walking.

Pheasants, Chucker, Quail

My wife will prepare them for us and we'll eat like Kings.

Watch out for the birdshot!

I have a German Wirehair that I've shot a lot of pheasants over. Probably in the neighborhood of a 100 birds or so. She also has retrieved ducks and geese for me on land and water, as well as squirrels when I take a walk out in my woods. She also keeps the woodchuck population in check around my gardens. Very versatile hunting breed.

Besides being an excellent pointer and retreiver, she is an even better companion. Nothing like a good dog.

She is 12 1/2 now, and slowing down a bit. The spirit is still willing.

1 less varmint.

pheasant hunt from ~4 years ago.

Pretty much all of my pheasant hunting was over stocked birds, sad to say. Huntable "native" pheasants in NY are pretty much a thing of the past.
