Love this comment: "pull the trigger on a revolver and it fires once and a new cartridge moves into position. take a semi-auto, pull trigger and it fires once , and a new cartridge moves into position. end of story media heads!!! go back to your cracks in the sidewalk!"

I can't believe my eyes. Not only did this beautiful piece of non-fiction firearm literature come from the hated NY Times, but the young white woman that wrote it was actually ALLOWED by her editor to point to black community as a disproportionate source of violence. How the **** did this article make it to print?

This article is a headache for liberals. The facts are painful.
How do we use it against them? That's the question. They used Mother ****ing Jones against us...

Of course she is merely advocating a total ban on handguns.
She can advocate all she wants, that ship has sailed. Point is, she has "seen the light" when it comes to banning features over function.

It's about time someone in the main stream media said something correct about firearms. I wonder how many NYC libs who read the old grey lady will change their minds about guns.

Probably 0. But still, it's out there cidiot world.

And this comment really sums it all up to me, what's wrong with crime, violence, and the general decay in our society:

Mr. Landrieu and Mayor Michael A. Nutter of Philadelphia are founders of Cities United, a network of mayors trying to prevent the deaths of young black men. "This is not just a gun issue, this is an unemployment issue, it's a poverty issue, it's a family issue, it's a culture of violence issue," Mr. Landrieu said.

with the attitude of todays liberals and the memory of mass shootings this article will be ignored just like people crossing the street against the light. Another mass shooting will just reenergize the gun ban lobby.

Thank you, this is exactly what I pulled from the article as well. It's a dangerous, dangerous article as it does NOT point to the reality of the deaths in the hand gun category. It eludes to it, but does not identify it which is that the majority of this type of act exists among the gangland, drug trade. If you remove that, the number drops significantly to practically statistically normal levels of violence in general that just happen to involve a gun as opposed to some other weapon.

We push the war on drugs stats.. HEAVILY .. every time they throw a handgun stat at us, we throw back how many are killed in gang land violence. Then we throw self defense in there and do a little subtraction ...

Article taught me, and probably most here, nothing we didn't already know (this is not in conflict with my thanks to the OP for posting it). The profound ignorance of the public has always, unfortunately, been nonetheless a strong motivator in shaping policy. It's good to see a major mag post an article like this, though.
