So I spent almost two bucks a round on some brenneke slugs. They had issues cambering in my shogun. They fired fine once chambered so I just chalked it up to just my gun being picky. That was until I dropped my left over rounds in my ammo box with some Super X slugs.

Both slugs are marked 2-3/4

The expensive $2 slugs are actually closer to 2 1/2 inches

2 3/4" is the open length not the fold crimp or rolled length.

The open length matters only in ejection of the spent cartridge.
Tomorrow when its not dark out I will head up to my range and take a picture of the spent hulls, but I assure you they are still shorter,
Also even in my brothers Mavrick 88 they did not chamber well (had to really ram them home), and they dont eject from m dads single shot at all. They just fit super tight in any 12G I have tried. Plus the brass isnt that great, not much rim for the extractor to grab. Just expected better from an exspencive round.

Ok. The length is not really relevant. If your gun is not ejecting them because the rim is smaller or that's not related to length. Having to "ram it home" is also not a symptom of too short. You have a cheap gun made to a price point, not a lot of care is put forth maybe it's chamber is out of spec, it could be the extractor/ejector is not in spec it but none of this is a length issue.

I wasn't blaming the lenth on "raming it home" they are fatter than my other slugs, they failed to chamber right in:

My cheapo Savage,

My brothers Mavrick 88, (with allot of replaced mossy parts)

My dads Tunder Rancher HS12,

Yes these are all cheap priced weapons but they had had the same issue.

I also have a thousand rounds down range with my cheapo and only had issues like this with the cheap Rio target shells for $5 for 25.

How many rounds since you last cleaned it?
I clean it everyday now, got a disassembly and solvent tank dip a month ago. But if i fire it, i clean it (now that I know how to take it apart)

In HS12 they fit SUPER tight, and only partially eject about 1/3rd of they way out, you have to pull it out by hand.

And the same companies 3" Mag Brenekke slugs cycle fine. (and hit hard enough to detonate tannerite!) through all of them. But those kick like a mule and I only bought 15 of those (3x5), I bought 40 (5X8) of the ones I am having issues with because they are "ultra light recoil" and I can practically fire One-handed

(edited after I looked at my invoice and realized I had bought 3 boxes of the mags, and forgotten about the first box I shot alone)

Regardless I had originally planned on testing some different slugs for hunting season, but after finally finding ammo (and buying ever box I could afford) I am going to be using the old model 94 (SN dates to 76), Its so much lighter and even with the old standard sights I'm hitting 1lb of tannerite at 125 yards so Its my go to gun now, and the shotty is just for fun.

Same saga here..this example is #7, 00, and Slug..all printed 2 3/4..all 3 different sizes overall. Which actually does suck cause im able to put 6 in the magazine tube of #7s but only 5 of the others :(

odd, when used shotgun for deer all i ever used was the KO shells, kick like a mule and hit like one too. my old Ithica 37 and my savage both take them with no issues at all.
maybe a bad batch? have you tried shells form one of the other boxes?

The deer ones ran fine, the low recoil ones are too fat (all 8 boxes), although I immediately noticed the length, they have a slightly larger diameter than the other slugs, not by much, but enough to make it a super tight fit. You really gotta push it into the breach action gun where the others fall in.

These are also not the KO brand.

Ok, so the shells are a larger circumference, odd. That is more an issue of spec, I would contact the company and inquire about the lot number you are having issues with.

I am sorry if I misunderstood your post, I took you to suggest the length was an issue. Getting old.

No worries, originally I noticed the length difference so I blamed that first, after trying other firearms (specifically the breach action) I realized it was circumference issue.
