So LEOs get the thin blue line icon. How about turning it into a ribbon so that civilian members who support our LEO (and troops, of course) can wear with honor? I'll be the test monkey. Maybe we'll start a national trend, lol. Been noticing a lot of bashing in some threads lately. Willing to bet you'll find only a handful of members not willing to wear the badge! OK, trolls, bring it on!

Can we have a recipients of the NYS conspicuous service cross forum badge too?
If you don't have one or show support for folks that do, you're a socialist who doesn't believe in serving the citizens of this state nor state soverenty.

The medal itself and qualifications for it is easily searchable so I won't get into that.

However, I find it a bit distasteful that you imply that if someone doesn't support cops and troops by willingly 'wearing' a forum badge that they somehow should be ashamed of themselves.

'Stand up and cheer with everyone else to show your support for the cause, or suffer public humiliation' is basically what I perceive you're petitioning for, and the elitism it will end up implying in regard to those who don't jump on the bandwagon.

I don't see the current blue badge in that respect BTW, more of an indicator of what certain people do for a living, not a 'hey look, I'm special' tag.
You have to be LEO (and presumably prove it) to obtain that, and as such qualify for it, not just a joebob slapping a sticker on his truck to show he's a supporter as it has no real meaning in that regard.

You want to support LEO and .mil or whomever?
Shake thier frikkin hand and SAY thanks next time you see one. Buy them a beer or lunch or whatever as long as its actually in person, not some canned BS that mostly just makes to poser buying into it feel better.
(yes, I know some people do like to see support in the fashion of ribbons and trinkets for thier professions, but I assure you a personal act will be much more welcomed, appreciated and respected even amongst them)

Yeah, whatever dude. All I'm talking about is there has been alot of cop bashing lately and I find that disrespectful. Read whatever you want into it. Oh and by the way, guaranteed, I have shaken more hands, said thank you and bought more beers and full dinners for soldiers and their families than most. I live near West Point, so its not hard to find soldiers in their families. Call me a poser or whatever you like. I'm good with it.

Cop bashing doesn't mean you hate cops. I thank any cop that acts in a way that gets a lot of them bashed DESERVE to get bashed. Doesn't mean they all are bad, but it certainly doesn't mean I can't express my outrage about the bad ones.

Cool dude, doesn't mean I can't express my support for the 99% of them that are out there to do a good job either...

Cop bashing is not condemning one person (or persons) based on their actions. It's making gross generalizations about a group of people as a whole.

I'm not sure we want to have a "badge" that simply says they support some group or profession. However, I wouldn't mind having one for military or retired military to let others know that they served. It would be strictly voluntary of course.

When a topic comes up about laws or police I do like to know that a response is from a LEO because information coming from someone who has been there and done that is usually pretty accurate. We bring up subjects about the military here often and it would be nice to know if someone responding is or was in the military.

I disagree. Especially on here where someone will post a video of a cop doing something grossly out of line or illegal and everyone will jump on him for Cop Bashing.

My family is full of LEOs and Service Members when we get together if you overheard some of our conversations and didn't know us you would swear that we bash both professions. Being on the inside you tend to focus on the bad. Doesn't mean we don't support the professions just shows we know there are problems in both of them.

I'm cool with that. I don't even sport an avatar or tag line, lol. Just trying to make a point is all....

Well, let me rephrase. What I described is how we view it as far as the site rules are concerned. If someone does something stupid and gets called out for it, no problem. When someone posts a video of a cop doing something dumb and the replies start talking about how no cops respect our rights then it's a problem.

It's different when you are one. It's like me telling Polish jokes :)

All I do is type things and ban people, right? :)

It's like the vice president. All you do is break ties and shoot people in the face. Yes, I stole that from John Stewart.

I guess the problem I have is that when people post a video of a cop doing something wrong people think you are just cop bashing, when in reality the cop DID do something wrong.
