SIG Sauer P320 fired on its own

I am an owner of a SIG Sauer P320 and just saw this article in the paper. I have heard of the issue but didn’t think it was this serious. Your thoughts on if I should have any concerns with my P320. Are they over reacting?

When this pistol first came out, a few YouTube videos proved that the pistol could discharge without pulling the trigger if the rear area of the slide was hit. Sig Sauer did acknowledge the issue and corrected it. One report of a discharge with a female officer happened with her pistol in her purse. Possibly an object caught in the trigger. Most of these discharges are being blamed on the holster.
Very hard to say and no one can answer that for you. To me it seems like these claims might have some validity because there are many military and police stating this.
plus according to the article they have one of them on video that shows it totally went off on its own.

Must have come from the same batch that killed Hutchins 🙄

Maybe. I didn’t read the article because there’s plenty of them out there on this topic.

When Glock was new in the market. You would hear of these similar stories with the pistol going off. I know of one involving a Chief of Police and of Glock pistols going off inside locker rooms and police vehicles.
Glock leg was primarily the reason for the NY Trigger!
One of my best friends had a Kimber gold match .45, gorgeous gun, he dropped the slide with a mag in the well and knocked a hole through the floor of his kitchen.
When he called Kimber, they said they'd never had an issue, but immediately gave him a buyback/trade in offer for nearly what he paid for it.

Well don’t drop guns right? All kidding aside I dropped one once walking down the stairs with my kimber in my arms and it didn’t go off. Of course my situation and his situation base very little similarities other than we both dropped a kimber once and I’m not saying his didn’t go off because mine didn’t go off.

Just curious was there a lawsuit with Glock at the time?

Oh yeah big difference there. Mine was in a holster and no damage at all. Slide out of my arms and down the stairs. I was changing in the basement after yard work and boy did I feel stupid.
