I'm looking to get a better scope for my FNH FNAR and wanted to get some suggestions from some experienced people before I fork over a bunch of money for one.

I plan on using the rifle for hunting and some long range target shooting just to give you an idea for what I am looking to do.
I <3 my Vortex Viper PST.

Also look into SWFA, some of the higher-end Burris, Leupold, and if budget allows, Nightforce, S&B, etc...
How much did the vortex cost you? I want to spend a few hundred on a nice quality scope but I dont want to spend more than I did on the rifle lol
Buy a super sniper from SWFA maybe $300 bucks or so mildot retical. I have two one on a 300 win mag and the other on a 308. Can't beat them for the price.
I'm checking the site out now. Who makes the super sniper?
Nevermind, I thought that SWFA was just a merchant but I see they also manufacture scopes
I see that they offer the SS in 6x, 10x, 16x and 20x. Does this mean they are fixed magnification scopes?
For the $300 price they are fixed. Also SS just came out with a new reticle. SWFA SS 10x42 Tactical Riflescope

I would purchase the new Mil / Mil one instead of the Mildot reticle. Here is some info about that if you aren't familiar. FFP - Mil/Mil -MOA/MRAD - The Optics Talk Forums

I run a 10x SS on my bull barrel AR15. I love it. (SWFA Riflescopes SWFA SS Rifle Scopes check out the reviews)

I don't know if i'd want to run a 10x for hunting. A 6x might be decent for hunting but not that great for long range.

They do make variable power scopes but they start out at $599.
Buy a Leupold and you will never regret spending your money on one!I like the VXll's and with a slickguns coupon knocking $20-$30 off at Midway you get a great deal....
The Leupold vxII isn't even in the same ballpark as the scopes that are being discussed. It would make a good hunting scope but it doesn't even have target turrets.

He did say hunting scope, what are you/we talking about then?

He said he was looking for long range shooting as well. I'm not saying the Leupold is a bad scope by any means...just depends on what he is really looking to do.
Well long range sorta means maybe a high power scope, and from what I seen is they may start at 6 power.I like a 3x9 and sometimes wish i had 2x7 for hunting, never would put a scope with a starting power of 6 power for hunting ever....
Bushnell 6500 2.5x16 I have one with the tactical turrets but the standard turrets are good too and will save some bucks.
Thanks for the suggestions so far fellas. I'm starting to get more of a handle on what I want. I want to go with a variable zoom scope becauseof the variable ranges I plan on shooting at, either at the bench or in the woods.
I'll put another vote in for going mil/mil. It makes life so much easier.
Supersnipers or bushnell 10x40
If your not looking for something with adjustable power this is a great option to get you to 200 yards. I have one on my 16" AR and its a nice setup. Quality scope
