I bought a Rossi M92 in .357 a couple weeks ago.
This past Saturday was really the first chance I had to shoot it without freezing my fingers.
I have a bunch of .38 spl ammo that I use in my S&W 64. Mixed weights and bullet types because .38 spl is kind of hard to get so I would pretty much just buy whatever I found and the Model 64 doesn't care. I just brought a mixture of that along.
Things were going just great at first but then I started shooting UMC 30 Special 130 GR. MC. This is round nose flat point 130 Gr. Metal Coat.
The rifle didn't like it at all.
It either wouldn't chamber a round or the nose of the round would 'pop up' so it was upright. A major pain to then remove the round.

This happened a lot. Like 1 in 4 rounds.
Anyone have a Rossi and is this just ammo fussiness or should I be looking at a service call?

Is your M92 a discontinued Puma / LSI Rossi (made in Brazil) or a newer Rossi (made in Turkey)? With the Puma / LSI Rossi some 38's have a tendency to jam if you cycle it slowly, usually working the lever quickly will cure that. I've read that the early production M92 Rossi (made in Turkey) had some loading issues (the country of manufacture should be stamped under the lever).

Linux3, When Taurus acquired Rossi in Sept 08 the manufacturing of Puma's M92 transferred from Brazil to Europe (included was a substantial price increase). On Puma's site I see Chiappa Arms of Italy is the current manufacturer. I am obviously wrong about them being made in Turkey but I do remember reading about early production problems with the European M92. Looking around I also see Taurus International continued the manufacturing of the Rossi M92 in Brazil with US distribution through BrazTech Miami...my bad, I was unaware of that and of the Puma / Rossi split.

Puma M-92 & M-86

Taurus International Manufacturing Inc - News Details

My M92 is an older Puma made in Brazil by Rossi. The only 38's I have had loading problems with are the short 125g CCI +P Blazers.
