From: County Seal / Logo / Name resolutions | NY SAFE Resolutions

Counties have begun passing resolutions denying New York state the right to use their county seal, logo, name, etc from being used in conjunction with SAFE act related letters or other messages (for example pistol permit renewals). This is a method to show continued resistance and to prevent county residents from thinking their county endorses the so called SAFE act in any way.

Cuomo should put his face on the letterhead instead. Since he's so proud of his new gun laws.
Then I guess they would get back a lot of applications with puke on them.

What I sent him:

Good evening Mr. Dougherty,

I spoke to you many months back regarding passing a resolution (albeit symbolic) against the SAFE Act. First, I would like to thank you all for passing a resolution against it. It shows that we are all in solidarity against the SAFE Act. In continuing the fight against unjust laws, I would like to ask that the legislature also consider a Resolution denying the State of New York permission to use the Onondaga County Seal and name in enforcement of the so-called SAFE Act, as several other counties have recently done.

If you would take a moment to visit NY SAFE Resolutions | Documenting County and Town resolutions on the NY SAFE act for more information, or see what one county (Wayne County in this case) has done in the below link; I, and many others, would be grateful.

Reply from John Dougherty 2nd district, clay, onondaga

Mr. [Me],

This is the first I have heard of anything like this. It's an interesting idea. Let me discuss it with the rest of the legislature and I'll get back to you.

When will your County join the ranks of other NY counties with this action?

Here, send this to your county executives (credit Hardrada):

Thank you for passing a resolution (albeit symbolic) against the SAFE Act. It shows that we are all in solidarity against this infringement upon the rights of law-abiding citizens. In continuing the fight against unjust laws, I would like to ask that the legislature also consider a Resolution denying the State of New York permission to use the <your county> Seal and name in enforcement of the so-called SAFE Act, as several other counties have recently done. Regardless of the political implications, consider this: If the State is allowed to Include your County Seal on these correspondences it will be your County Clerk's office that will be inundated with unnecessary phone calls and emails questioning the new process instead of the NY State Police who are actually tasked with enforcement.

If you would take a moment to visit NY SAFE Resolutions | Documenting County and Town resolutions on the NY SAFE act for more information and to see what other Counties have done, I and many others would be grateful.

Thank you for your time,

<your name>

I believe I read somewhere that Oswego County is taking up (or has taken up) the issue. Same with Yates. I haven't dug for the results yet.

Monroe County has apparently passed a resolution in the odd manner in which Monroe County does same.
