I just finished the book "When worlds collide". I remembered the movie on TV when I was kid and thought what the hell.

I was shocked how much the science and the human psyche was right on the money for book written 1932. It is different in many ways than the movie. It differently should be included as a SHTF fiction reading for a good story

Yup, that's a classic, first read it in seventh grade, and I've read it many times since then. The sequel, After Worlds Collide is pretty good. I've heard that Hollywood is considering reshooting When Worlds Collide.

Not a sci fi buff, but something similar that I read years ago was
"Lucifer's Hammer" about an asteroid that strikes earth.
