Regarding the NY laws on high capacity clips... Is it illegal to own a 15 round clip? Purchased pistol in 1996 and it came with a 15 round clip. Pistol itself was produced in 1992. I can only assume clip was produced the same.

It shall be unlawful to possess any “assault weapon” or “large capacity ammunition feeding device.” So called assault weapons lawfully possessed prior to September 14, 1994 and large capacity ammunition feeding devices manufactured prior to such date can continue to be lawfully possessed.

So if it is legal, it would be illegal to purchase a modern clip manufactured after Sept 1994 and have it in NY ?

First off they are magazines, not clips. Secondly any pre-ban mag (pre made before September 14th 1994) is legal no matter the capacity. Any mag made AFTER that date that holds more than 10 rounds is illegal. You can go out and purchase all the pre-ban mags you want today, of any capacity, but you cannot buy a post ban mag over 10 rounds.

It's a magazine, not a clip. You can't have a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds that was manufactured after the 1994 ban date.

If the magazine came with the gun in 1992 then it's fine to own.
