Guys,

Be sure to check the serial #'s before making a purchase. I almost bought an AR on an auction site today, but thankfully, I did my homework like I always do. Turns out that the "Pre Ban AR" is not Pre Ban.

The serial number XXXXX comes back as an M-15A2 born on 3/5/1997.

Here is the list that I use: Pre-Ban AR15 Information for those who still live under the AWB

So far the score is:

Steve-o - 3
Scammers - 0

I am trying to keep it that way.

I know we are all big boys, but I just figured I would give you all a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up. Can you share some of your knowledge on where/how you did your homework so we can also enlighten ourselves and make smart (legal) purchases?

Edit: Hahaha! I wrote this before reading the OP properly and opening the new window. I thought it was the auction listing. Thank you for that linked page.

No worries. I have 3 under my belt. Armalite and Colt both took my call and were very polite, professional and helpful. Ruger has information right on their website. That is where I checked on my 10-22.

I guess if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
