As we've previously reported, an armed doctor prevented a possible mass shooting in a Pennsylvania hospital yesterday. The doctor engaged the shooter, hitting him multiple times in the chest and saving an unknown number of lives in the process.

Now, the Yeadon Police Chief, Donald Molineux, is heaping praise on the doctor (identified as Lee Silverman). According to
Yahoo News/AP,

The hospital has a policy barring anyone except on-duty law enforcement officers from carrying a weapon anywhere on its campus, a spokeswoman for the Mercy Health System said.

But Yeadon Police Chief Donald Molineux said that "without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives."

"Without that firearm, this guy (the patient) could have went out in the hallway and just walked down the offices until he ran out of ammunition," the chief said.

Watch...The hospital will sanction the doctor for violating hospital policy by carrying a concealed weapon.

But if we'd just let the government take away all of our guns the shooter wouldn't have had one to shoot anyone with. Right?

Being a Doc, good chance he will be fine, If he had been the janitor or a security guard, he would be fired by now.

you watch. The anti's will discount this as "only hypothetical", yet they constantly want us to think of the hypothetical children that are hurt whenever we pick up our legally owned firearms.

Don't bet on it. Many hospital administrations are run by Liberal Leftists who came from, and still live in, their ivory towers. They are essentially all diehard Democrats that support the statist agenda without question. They generally believe that laws are the answer to society's ills. Thus, they are positive that laws against firearm possession should be inviolate. Therefore, this doctor, despite doing a good thing, violates the core sensibilities of the statist administrators. He presents a threat to their basic ethos and core beliefs. So, he must be punished. Firearms cannot, ever, be allowed to be viewed positively.

This will probably turn out like the situation where a store has a "no challenge" policy against robbers, a manager confronts and stops a robbery using his own force, and the manager is summarily fired for violating company policy. This physician, if he is employed by the hospital, could very well find himself sanctioned by the institution's board of directors (though probably not the hospital's medical review board). Sad...but possibly true.

It's right up there with "assault weapon". Redundant... charged by "smartest person in the room media personalities".

The fact he's a doctor is irrelevent really. They kept making it sound like because he's a "doctor" he was more qualified to intervene or should have. If anything as a doctor I hope he gave first aid to the bad guy after he shot him?

In all seriousness though, great job by the doc. Hopefully the hospital doesn't hang him out to dry for carrying on their property. I don't know what their policy is.
