I know it's a dumb question, but the permit number is labeled "CARRY"directly above the Date of Issue right? I have another hand written 9 character string just above that outside of the bold box. Does anybody know what that number/string is for?

I don't know what the longer number is, but on all the bill of sales I've made and received, the ###-## number is the one they care about.

The NYSID is your record number that your permit is filed under at the state level

Or so I was told.....

The "Carry" number is your permit number. I called and asked the permit office because I had to list my home state permit # on another states application.
