I'm trying to get an idea of how long is wait between being approved online and having the license in hand.
Here's my status: Long time Premises holder, applied for Carry June 26 2022 after Bruen. Received fingerprint exemption June 30 based on existing permit. No activity until Feb 10 2023 at which time Investigator assigned contacted me for various docs to send in. Sent in the docs ASAP incl 16+2 training. Approved online/website on Feb 23. About 1 week later received a "Notice or Application Approval" letter along with a blanket purchase auth and instructions. Emailed back the requested forms receipts, handgun/safe pictures on March 4th, requesting appointment to pick up permit. Haven't heard from them since. I will call this week to inquire further.

Well lets see... it's March 12,2023 and no carry permit after applying in June,2022. This after you have been a Premises holder for years. Had you not been a Premises holder I'm willing to bet your app would go down a black hole. NYS obviously hates citizens carrying as evidenced by the hoops you have to jump through. In spite of the ridiculous delay, you probably have a decent shot and I hope it happens for you.(y)

At least thanks to Bruen it’s just a matter of paperwork and time. For 40 years since getting my premises it was just a dream. But you are right, NYC hates it.

I wasn't aware you were in NYC, which is worse than NYS. My brother(big leftist) lives in NYC and despises firearms. Again, best wishes from Missouri in your quest to exercise your 2A rights.

If I have a CCW permit in Orange County how do I go about getting the NYC addition? I can’t find an actual site to apply
Good luck. I doubt it will ever happen until it’s struck down at the Supreme Court level. I would be very cautious if you get approved because it wouldn’t surprise me if they tracked you and nabbed you under a CCIA violation for stepping into a bodega for a soda.

A bodega isn’t a sensitive location. Listening to the oral arguments, Private Property is likely to be ruled by the Second Circuit as unconstitutional.

???? Where did I say a bodega is a sensitive location? There are sensitive locations that are very specific and outlined by NYS as banned no matter what the owners of the location say. Then there are restricted locations such as a bodega and it is illegal to possess a firearm on private property without expressed consent or a sign saying firearms are allowed on premise.
You indicate you listened to oral arguments and you speculate that the second circuit will overturn restricted locations and that might be the case. Until it’s done that’s still the law of the land and then NYS could appeal it. I think the same as you and the private party locations will possibly/likely get overturned but then the second circuit also said they expect whatever ruling they make that the SC will overturn it. I’m not so sure we will see much relief since they seemed pretty neutral.
Also what I was saying I wouldn’t expect to happen is getting permission to carry concealed in NYC as a non-resident of NYC until the SC overturns NYS permits not being able to carry in NYC if issued outside of the city. I have never heard of it happening.

A bodega under the CCIA is not a Sensitive Location, if the customer has expressed permission from the store. They are free to carry concealed.

Again??? Exactly what I said above and our statements on the law do not differ. I never said a bodega is a sensitive location in either post. If I did please show me where. I specifically stated in the second post they are a restricted location because it’s private property and you need expressed consent or a sign allowing guns needs to be posted. I was hoping this would clear up any confusion but I guess not. Please let me know what’s not clear after this post of anything and I’m happy to try to clear it up. Again I don’t see where our interpretation of a bodega being a restricted location vs a sensitive location differs. You are aware they use two different terms(sensitive and restricted) in the CCIA right?

What I’m doubting is there are very many bodegas in NYC that have guns allowed signs and that if a special permit is granted I would not be surprised if NYC had officers follow said applicant into a bodega without a sign to harass/arrest them or disarm them. I suppose all of this is for not because I highly doubt the special permit to carry in NYC will be granted anyway. With Bruen they may issue it but you would need the enhance training to get it issued. This is just a guess but the guy asking about it likely doesn’t have the training because of his county location. Yes there is some assumptions on my end and the OP is free to correct me if I’m wrong on him not having the training and I hope he gets the special permit. I would love for him to post a thread on that to see if he gets it or what needs to be done to get it. My wife wants to go to NYC and id love to legally carry a gun there just because I can. Although I doubt my hotel, a restricted location, would allow it.

Just that you mentioned Bodega and the pistol licensee is getting jammed up. A Bodega can post a sign or give expressed permission to a customer. A Bodega owner isn’t going to jam up a customer who was caught inside their establishment if a customer is licensed.

Correct.
What I said is I wouldn’t put it past NYPD to follow you or someone else into a bodega without a sign posted for you to be harassed, arrested, or pistol removed from your possession for violating this section of the CCIA. I don’t trust them to not do that with a NYC special permit holder as they do not want you carrying in NYC for any reason.

The NYPD did train cops at looking for people in the 42nd Street area where they sold holsters in these souvenir shops back in the 80’s and 90’s and confronted people who were buying them out on the street.
