The teachers will vote for whom they want. All that I know are voting Astorino because he's against common core. ( I know 90% of the teachers in the school district I'm in as well as the administration and many in surrounding school districts ... comes with the territory of having a parent whom was a teacher and is still substituting after retirement.) The union will not give money to any candidate. By doing so, it's sending a STRONG message to the people and the politicians (Because they are different you know) that they are not pleased with the princess. Just that alone is great for Astorino BUT .... there will be 5 people running in this election and THAT is bad news for anyone NOT running as a communist democrap. So .... I guess take it all with a grain of salt. What Astorino needs is for the others to drop out of the race ... then it's in the bag for him.

I think it means they won't endorse Cuomo because of opposition from there membership but don't have the stones to endorse Astorino

Since Rob got enough signatures for the stop the common core line to be on the ballot , this could be just enough to deflate the princesses boat . Between Moreland gate , common core , and safe, we are seeing some major shifts in the voting blocs that make up this " progressive state " as Andy was proudly proclaiming not too long ago ! Those words have come back to bite him right on the ass so far !

Same here. My wife's a teacher and no one she has talked to at work will be voting for Cuomo.

Makes no difference who the union bosses endorse, because the rank and file will vote for how ever they want. The endorsement is the payback in cash to the candidate for past and future raises.

Andy does not know crap about education, but politicians typically dont anyway.... Rich kids that went to expensive private schools dont have a clue about public education.

Low turnout is key. Cuomo screwed both teachers and public employee unions and it's far too late for him to turn back now.

NYS booted Cuomo 1.0 and elected Pataki under the same scenario, I'm not hopeful at this point, but this is still more than possible.
