Thanks to the vocal and supportive NRA members in North Carolina, attention has been brought to a looming threat regarding target shooting on private property in Johnston County.* * On August 6, the Johnston County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a new noise ordinance that is clearly designed to put an end to the practice of recreational shooting on private property.* A second required vote will take place next Tuesday, September 4, in the Commissioner's Room at the Johnston County Courthouse Annex at 6:00 p.m.

Wait ... can a govt on any level tell you what you can and can't do on your own property? This is all brought about by a noise ordinance? Doesn't seem right.

I hate to say it, but this is the sort of thing that happens when a lot of snowbirds from NY / Jersey move to states like NC and start to try and turn them into the same sort of place, but with slightly nicer weather. Floridians in some parts of FL are already really pissed with this trend. I wonder how long it'll be before life-long NC residents start to feel the same way.
