I am looking to buy a night vision rifle scope for varmint hunting. What are you guys using? Does it work well? I have used NV scopes in the past on several hog hunts down south. Any info on what you are using would be greatly appreciated.

If you are looking for a dedicated Night Vision Weapon Sight I’d suggest a Generation 3, 4X magnification sight. The D-740 sold by TNVC is typical of this type. ($3K to $4K)

A dedicated NVWS is considered by some to be obsolete since the advent of the “clip-on” UNS style devices like the AN/PVS-22. ($6K to $8K)

Any light amplification type device will need the support of IR illuminators to extend the range and see into the shadows.

Or, if you don't want to dump a whole lotta money on a varmint gun, you can get Gen 1+ at Kalinka Optics and help it along on moonless nights with an IR light.
