NHL better get their crap together soon

Today is my birthday and my wonderful wife surprised me with Rangers tickets. I have always wanted to see a game at MSG but have never been able to. She bought them before the lockout crap. I am excited but disappointed that we might have to postpone it. Anyone else going through hockey withdrawal?

Big time. Fellow Rangers fan, too. On the plus side, a shorter season could favor the Rangers.

I've only been to the Garden once, but it was amazing with the thousands of people around as passionate about the team as I am. The only down side was that Messier was out that night hurt. He had shown that punk Lindros what a true captain looks like the night before in a fight.

Edit: The fight was against Joel Otto, but Lindros got a good look at it.
Definitely going through hockey withdrawal. Luckily, I am still playing weekly, but there needs to be something on tv between Sundays when football takes over.

They need to figure this **** out really soon, cause we have a trip planned to the Winter Classic in Detroit. Those tickets were really hard to get and I will be immensely pissed if that gets cancelled...
The tickets she got are for dec. 2 against the Islanders. If they play it will be a great game. I am a huge Rangers fan.
US people watch hockey eh!?
Don't hold your breath on the Lockout ending any time soon. Maybe luck will strike but neither side seems terribly willing to back down at this point. Bettman definitely needs to go...he had his success in growing the revenue of the NHL but now he's just a virus. Bummed out that I may not be able to watch my Sabres this season.
I need my HOCKEY!!! Go SABRES! God knows buffalo needs to see a team win.
I'm thinking the whole season is going to get wiped.

btw, Devils fan here. We used to have the AHL Utica Devils locally. Some guy named Brodeur was their goalie. I think he went to the NHL and did okay. :)

Go Devils!!!

I think everyone needs to go see a game at MSG at least once in their life, but ever since it was built I personally like the atmosphere (and prices!) of the Pru Center much better.
I miss hockey. I was so ready to attend some sabre's games this year.

We went to a Devil vs. Rangers game at the Garden several years back. Saw Gomez get his first hat trick. Sat in the nosebleed seats at the end of the ice and couldn't see the goal net at our end of the ice because of the seats in front of us. Had a great time anyway but once was enough.
It doesn't look like either side is in a hurry to get a deal done. Maybe once the lower paid players start to run out of money and put pressure on the union to get things moving will something happen.

I agree with ChrisWNY, Bettman's gotta go.

I think any hockey fan would agree with this.

Huge Rangers fan here...

They're doing a multi-year renovation on the Garden. I can't wait for it to be done and go to a game again. It is supposed to be way different in there. I've been to 4 games at MSG, and loved every one of them.

Both sides are too stubborn to figure a deal out in the near future. The small time owners (Florida, Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Columbus, etc) are loosing money. Teams like the Rangers, Bruins, and all the Canadian teams are making good money. It doesn't help when the sides meet like one day a week. If there is a season, it won't start until the Winter Classic. If the season doesn't start then, we won't have a season.

The NHL needs stronger revenue sharing between the teams. They have the least amount of sharing between all the major leagues. This would help the small market teams stay afloat. It will be hard to convince the Canadian and Original 6 teams that make money to actually do this though. In order to do this, the players are going to have to take less of the pie. Them making 57 percent of the revenue is too much. It should be 50-50 or so. The 7% should go to revenue sharing between the teams.
