Breaking NEWS from SCOPE!

July 24, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Colden, NY - The Shooters Committee on Political Education today announced its launch of the "Second Amendment Coalition Resource Center," which will include resources for the public, SCOPE members, and attorneys. The "coalition" nature of the project seeks to bring together the groups and the individuals throughout New York supporting the Second Amendment and fighting for the repeal of the NY SAFE Act.

"It is time to show those who call Second Amendment supporters a 'minority' just how many support the restoration of our civil liberties that were taken by the NY SAFE Act," says Stephen J. Aldstadt, President. "We do not need $50 million to win this fight. We need to work together."

There are 31 members of the New York State Second Amendment Coalition and Aldstadt estimates that there are more than 100 groups across NY, representing the interests of gun owners and Second Amendment supporters. According to the ATF July 10, 2014 FFL reporting, there are also approximately 200 manufacturers of firearms and ammunition, and another 1,750 dealers. In addition, there are nearly 2,200 collectors of curios and relics who carry federal firearms licenses.[1]

Joining SCOPE for the project is Attorney and Policy Analyst, Paloma A. Capanna. "It's time for supporters of the Second Amendment to push back at the misinformation being circulated to the public, the media, and the courts," says Capanna, whose credentials include more than 20-years of litigation experience, including a recent Amicus Brief to the Second circuit Court of Appeals in the pending NYSRPA vs. Cuomo lawsuit.

The Second Amendment Coalition Resource Center will be producing fact sheets, white papers, and other original research materials. It will also house proprietary research materials for attorneys defending those charged under the SAFE Act and for constitutional litigators challenging the validity of the SAFE Act.
