I currently live in Ontario County. I have had my pistol permit for almost 6 years. I'm moving to Monroe County in a few weeks. I realize my permit lets me carry anywhere in the state, but if i change county residence, do I have to apply for a new one?

No. You can either change your address in Ontario or transfer your permit to Monroe. I don't believe that there are any disadvantages to transferring in your situation but you want to investigate that for yourself. You wouldn't want to transfer when movin to a county that uses restrictions for example.

My son moved last year from Niagara County to Orleans County. He just changed his address, and retains his Niagara County permit. He does have to come to Niagara County for amendments though.
