I have moved from Monroe County to Wayne County. Do I need to transfer my whole permit over to the new county or just notify each county of my address change. I would like to keep my Monroe County permit as I know to process and have the ability to carry concealed on that permit. I am nervous they will change the new permit just because they can. I also know in Wayne county every amendment needs a judges signature. It seems like added new guns can be more of a hassle. Any info you guys can share would be great. Need to figure this out before the new Sig P938 I just ordered arrives for pick up. Thanks, Matt

You just have to notify monroe county of your address change within 10 days of moving. I dont believe you are required to transfer your whole permit over to new county but you will have to keep going to monroe county to add new pistols which probably wont be a huge deal for you.

I don't know Wayne County's stand on permits. You can keep the file in Monroe if they allow it. Just do an address change if you can. Wayne County has no say in the matter.

Here is the law.

9. License: amendment. Elsewhere than in the city of New York, a
person licensed to carry or possess a pistol or revolver may apply at
any time to his licensing officer for amendment of his license to
include one or more such weapons or to cancel weapons held under
license. If granted, a record of the amendment describing the weapons
involved shall be filed by the licensing officer in the executive
department, division of state police, Albany. Notification of any change
of residence shall be made in writing by any licensee within ten days
after such change occurs, and a record of such change shall be inscribed
by such licensee on the reverse side of his license. Elsewhere than in
the city of New York, and in the counties of Nassau and Suffolk, such
notification shall be made to the executive department, division of
state police, Albany, and in the city of New York to the police
commissioner of that city, and in the county of Nassau to the police
commissioner of that county, and in the county of Suffolk to the
licensing officer of that county, who shall, within ten days after such
notification shall be received by him, give notice in writing of such
change to the executive department, division of state police, at Albany.

You can mail your change of address info to the county clerks office. or you could bring a letter down saying you moved.

I believe a change of address is considered an amendment to your permit?? I doubt that you can just call, you can most likely mail an amendment form in if you cannot get there in person

when the g/f moved to Wayne Co, she simply had to go down to the clerk's office and fill out a quick change of address form, that was it.

Didn't have to mail in anything in writing, and the ladies at the desk (we all know the two of them - <3 them both) said that was all that needed to be done. As stated above, you'll need to go to MoCo clerk's to add pistols to permit

This information was valid 11/11 - not sure if anything has changed since then

As someone who did this years ago, I can tell you one thing. Do an address change but keep your records in Monroe county. Do NOT have them moved to Wayne. If you keep them in Monroe you get instant amendments (same day at clerks office), Go to gunshows at Dome (if they keep having them there since its being sold) and the clerk is there, buy a handgun and take it home with you.

Wayne county... buy gun, go to clerks, wait 1-3 weeks, get amendment in mail, go pick up gun. No same day purchases at Dome gun shows etc...

Every time I buy anything I wish I had kept it in Monroe County.

Just notify Monroe County of your new address. That's it. You're done. Nothing more to do.

Go downtown and do it at the counter. It'll take 5 mins or so.

while you don't have to move it to Wayne, you may want to if you want the plastic permit card. I moved from Erie to Wayne, then to Monroe. I did move my permit to Wayne, but when I moved Webster I left it with Wayne county. Yes, needing the judge to approve adding something is a real PITA, I do have the plastic card :) Just went down to Lyons and did the address change amendment and got the plastic permit card done at the same time. In and out in like 10 minutes, including paperwork, picture and paying (the 3 P's I guess).

If you moved from the city with any restrictions, then I would move it....
