They did this when WIKI leaks was published. In order to prevent NIPRnet from being used to transmit classified information, the site was blocked, and airmen were cautioned that accessing at home could result in an ART15 if discovered.
Just off the phone a few minutes ago with my daughter (E-5) who is in the Air Force. She called to let me know they are doing it again. She's always a step ahead.

As a member of the AF, I received this notice. It says nothing about news stories. The notice, is simply a reminder not to access classified info on non-classified media(computers, tablets, websites).
This really is not anything new. The Militaty does this somewhat regularly. Anyone who has served knows that we live by much different rules and regulations. Military members do not have the same level of rights as non-military. Many of the rights found in the Bill of Rights are not as easy to access as they are in the real world. Not saying that it is right or wrong, just saying it is a bit different.
