id go if i could...ive got a thing for my wedding on the 8th darnit.

maybe ill be able to sneak out for the 2nd day. though all the cool stuffs picked over by then
Whats the admission this year? Went the second day last year and there really werent any deals, so I may go saturday if I'm not hungover for the wedding I'm going to on friday.
I'm planning on going but not sure which day yet. I've been thinking of going to the IDPA match at the Dutchess Pistol Assoc. on Sat. so maybe after that.
If I can put the money together I might be on the lookout for hunting related items as this year might be my first year deer hunting.
I'm planning to go Saturday morning, I know it will be crowded but I only made day 2 on the last show and it was getting pretty bare by then...

Priorities man!

I think it's $10. Doesn't say on the card (which gives you a $1 discount), nor on the website.

I'm looking for deals on powder and primers. Nice when I can save on the hazmat fee. I'll probably be there early Saturday.
Can anyone tell me how a gun show works? I have googled it many times. According to what I have read it seems that dealers and private sellers will be at a gun show. Now....I live in Rockland County....this gun show is in Orange County....how do I make a purchase and transport this gun legally? Besides a bill of sale do I need anything else to register this gun with Rockland County? FYI I have recently received my permit so I still have that green purchase coupon. I appreciate your help in advance.

Depends on what your buying~ Many vendors there have local shops and many dont. Rifle and shotgun you can walk out with. Pistols you need to go to your local permit department and register it(and wait if they call for it in your county) bringing back your authorization card. in other-words unless your an LEO you most likely wont be getting a hand gun at the show. (minding your county regs on registering rifle or shotguns).

at least that's the way i understand it. They do have FFL's willing to do transfers if you have a FFL willing to receive it.

I was thinking of this myself and figured that you would have to go through the normal pistol registration procedure and wait for an amendment on your permit and then acquire it from the seller. I would be very surprised if the government would make it easy for us. If we were able to take it home the same day from a gun show wouldn't we all just be doing that?
I'll be there for opening tomorrow morning with the intent of stocking up on powder and primers.
Thanks for the help everyone. Sounds like going to a gun show will only allow you to leave with ammo and accessories. I guess the purpose of a gun show maybe to physically see the guns firsthand. If anyone else has anything to add please do. I would like to know how one would make a firearm purchase.

You can purchase rifle's and shotguns also. Private sales can be made to LEO with proper ID with no wait (maybe a friend in LEO friend can buy it on your behalf and transfer it to you after they have gotten some trigger time on first and decide they dont want to keep it ,of course ;))
Last show i was told they will have many cases of the brass cased 7.62X39 surplus ammo(mildly corrosive) last time i think it was going for $250 for 1120rds. pretty good buy if they didn't bump up the prices.
GUN SHOW SUCKED! IM NOT INTO NAZI ****! most **** was over priced. short of gun parts and preban mags. Was like 100 degrees and the holster guy i wanted to see wasnt there this time! grrrrr!!!

I agree. Saw a ton of the same expensive junk, and TNT Reloading wasn't there either. D'oh!

I did get to see one of the door guys escorting a young man back into the building after he tried to steal from one or more vendors, then took off running. I can't think of a poorer choice of victims to try and rob.
I was there today. Total waste of time. The selection was terrible and the prices were outrageous.
That show is usualy very exspensive, very few bargains. The dealers there are mainly cattering to NJ residents buying everything that cant legaly get in NJ, in case you havent noticed the parking lot was filled with mostly NJ license plates, i drove past it about 1030 am and saw. This show is only good for bulk ammo and black rifle accesories. There are always plenty of modern gun parts guys there but now only has 1 vintage gun parts seller there, the other 2 sellers of vinatge rifle parts dont attend it anymore. I live close enough but dont go anymore, i was going to the flea market down the street.
I went also......

Haven't been to that kind of show in a long time. I'm not much of a black rifle guy and I looked at a few things.

I would term the sellers prices at "optimistic". LOL

Some are totally clueless to what they are selling and a realistic market value.

Tried to liberate a Sauer drilling that needed a bunch of work......bore was real rough for the rifle. Needed about a grand of smith time and some stock work that I do. Oh well.

Left with a few bricks of 22 to play with.

I do well on the net for my interests, and I wouldn't attend another.
