At one stage there was talk of microstamps on the ammo, including the rear of the projectile as a potential location.

This was slightly before the chamber/firing pin 'stamps as it shoots' version they are pimping now, but the premise was the same: mark ammo to solve crime. Added 'benifit' of that system was people would have to sign for any ammo purchased so that the s# series in X box could be directly connected to them should one appear at a crime scene.

Between the mechanics of it (maufacturers weren't never going to be convinced to develope, retool, impliment and keep record of all that BS, and said so), end user strife (pretty much everyone said FU to basically registering ammo at time of purchase, which in turn would be a form of firearm registration) and dealers (they have enough records to keep now and that would be so burdensome that many would be forced out of business because they couldn't keep up) it kinda fell off the planet then came orbiting back in as the variation on the theme they are pushing for now.

It all leads back to registration, limitation then confiscation anyway, no matter under what guise they paint it.

I'll probably get in trouble for this facebook post on her fan page.

Your effort to promote microstamping and force this issue on law abiding New Yorkers is a waste of time and a detriment to New Yorkers. You are pandering to a small percentage of constituents who, in their ignorance, are bleating loudly about something they don't truly understand. You are making New Yorkers LESS free by pushing this agenda. You aren't making New Yorkers any more free. Educate those who support this effort with knowledge about the technology and about how criminals actually work. There are too many ways around the technology for anyone who wants to evade it. It provides no new legitimate information to law enforcement at crime scenes. It can be easily faked (steal someone's barrel or someone's firing pin). And it most certainly won't be honored by the average criminal who buys a hot gun for their ways. Your dogged determination in pursuing this issue will result in more and more jobs and citizens leaving New York State which will only increase the tax burden on those who remain, lower property values, and ultimately contribute to more crime. How about finding ways to attract more businesses to New York, lower our tax rates, and lower crime by improving conditions for all New Yorkers?

Understood but he was specifically talking about now.

I understood that when I replied.

Its not at all beyond reason that the dunce being interviewed doesn't know the modern efforts and is going by what they were briefed on for 40 seconds by thier aides years ago and is under the assumption that microstamping is microstamping and is just flapping his lips around buzzwords just to sound relevant for the campaign.

I only use revovers for serious work, the auto's are for play. Having said that, can't wait to get out of this prison called NYS. I wonder if you know that Obamacare is coming to NY regardless of what the SCOTUS does. Yes, NY is implementing it's own version, sort of like what they did when the AWB sunsetted in the free states.

Amazing, democrat Bob Reilly also voted no. But he has supported a lot of other nonsense, so I do not care for him anyhow.

Is that map correct? I do a search and I get conflicting maps for assembly and for senate and this is from the .gov sites.

James
They are confusing as hell. It took me a while.

I was very pleased that my Assemblywoman (from NYC) voted against it. I sent her an email thanking her and assuring her of two votes (mine and my wife's) this election year. (She got back to me and said thanks.)

Definitely not a bad idea to write your reps on this.
