Lets make sure we specifically ask for a providsion to assure microstamping to be included in all illegal firearms, those most likely to be used in a crime.
Criminal to victim: Don't worry, I can shoot you w/o any concerns since I have microstamping that assures this is a fair crime.
Victim to Criminal: Ok. Go ahead now. I am just happy you are in compliance!

LOL!!!
The most useless and stupid law I have ever seen. The goal here is really to confuse, decieve and eventually force manufacturers to say, screw NY! Ask your representatives how much is this going to cost the state in this time of economic crisis.

I was under the impression that this technology was very easily defeated, and thus deemed ridiculous.

And like posted above, if only legally sold and owned guns are microstamped, what the hell is the point? I have to wonder if the politicians that think this crap up know it won't work, but feel like they have to do something anyway.

I think you're preaching to the choir :)

The "Oops we forgot-s" of this law:

1. No such technology exists. Oops.
2. Revolvers. Oops.
3. Picking up spent brass at the range, dropping it outside of a crime scene you commit a crime at. You just framed someone in the easiest way possible!? Oops.

DARTHGAMER, They were talking about that very point on NRANEWS when this bill came around the first time. (the framing somebody thing). I also remember the interview with the guy that invented this technology (theory). He couldn't answer these basic questions. I was almost embarrased for him... ...almost.

Now, I know California was talking about actually having serial #'s on all ammunition. Anybody know if anything ever came of that?

Oops #4: I assume that the striker/firing pin is what they are dreaming up will put the serial on the round right? Is it that impossible to swap firing pins with someone at the range while they aren't looking, shoot someone, and then BAM, framed again!? With 2 SERIOUS and INCREDIBLY EASY ways to frame someone into a FELONY charge, how does this make ANY sense!?

I just took a few minutes to email both my Assemblyman and my Senator to remind them of my position. I urge everyone to do the same.

Oh for god sake, it's the same story every year! when will they were let this go ? <silly question really, never>, however I will contact my assembly woman and senator, they have both consistently come out against this bill, but it doesn't harm to remind them.

The thing that pisses me off about this bill (besides the bill itself of course) is that this has been brought up how many times now? If memory serves the last time they saw they didn't have the votes during the voting process and withdrew it. Vote once, if you don't have the votes then it's gone not to be brought up again.
