Well, your little theory is demonstrably wrong. At the start of the video, he's quietly filming, and they still came over and harassed him. He wasn't interfering at all. He was across the street, silently filming. It didn't become an issue until the officers engaged him with violence.
Finally, when he mentioned that he was recording them, he told them as mandated by the law in that state, and THEN they assaulted him. So he DID obey the law and for that, he was assaulted. Bravo!
