Sorry for the long read but this was to good to be true so here is what happened today for me..

I got a hell of a deal today.I had a Dr. appointment today so after I went to the Dr. I figure I stop by Gander Mountain to see what they had in ammo for my 357 Magnum. While I was there a guy come in looking forward to getting rid of a Brand-New pistol, at this point I was not really interested in buying another pistol, but I was not sure what he had, so I kind of just hung out to see what kind of pistol he had, the reason behind me doing this. I know Gander Mountain will not pay crap for any type of firearm being it is brand new or not even if just walk out of the store with a new one and decided you did not want it even if it is 1 minute after you purchase the gun...

Cause once you purchase the gun it is what they called used, I know it is a stupid policy they have, so any ways while I was hanging out to see what this guy had, I was surprised it is a Brand New unfired Taurus Raging Bull 44 Magnums, well a Gander Mountain associate check the gun over and told the guy he would only give him $350.00 for it and the guy just about flipped out he said this gun goes for Brand New $799.99, and the guy pointed it out you have one sitting in the display case showing the price of $799.00,so the associate said it is completely new and of course, the guy said yes so is mine, well the associate asked the guy what was he looking forward to getting for it, so he said I at least like to get at least $450.00 even though I know it is Brand New you should at least give me that price I am asking for it as that is nearly with tax a saving of $400.00.

So this is where it gets interesting the associate had to take a phone and while he did I made my move, I said to guy. I can help you out if you like if you let me see the pistol, and he says to me do you have a pistol permit, I said yes and so I showed him my permit, and he said to me you have had your permit for quite awhile I said yes I have. So after I had seen the pistol. I said to him if you like I will give you $450.00 for it, and he was like totally shock he says to me are you sure, well I said Gander Mountain only wants to give $350.00 correct he says yes there out of there dam mine if they cannot at least give me $450.00 I am out of here.

After I check the pistol out really well, I said I buy it from you, then he says to me do we not have to do a transfer and background check. I said no, well he says to me how do you go about doing this, and I told him you have Clinton County permit correct, and it is all up to date with the most recently NICS check correct he says yes he just renewed his permit.

Well, I said to him. I also have a Clinton County permit... He then says I still do not know how you can do this with having it go through an FFL I said I tell you what are you willing to trust me and come with me to the Clinton County Clerk, he said sure, so we took the short trip maybe 2 miles from Gander Mountain and preceded to go inside the Clinton County Clerk Office, and I said to him let me do all the talking as I have done this a couple of times before he said ok.

So I preceded to tell the lady at the Clinton County Clerks. I said this guy wants to sell me his pistol, and he has a up-to-date permit, and she says ok, so she says to him may I see your permit and of course, he gives it to her then she asked me for mine after she says to both of us your permits are all recent with up-to-date NICS checks.

So she goes to guy. I need you to fill out this paper work saying that you want to sell your pistol to this guy(that being me) he says yes, she then says to him. there will also be a $5.00 fee to take the pistol off your permit(that would be him the seller) and a $5.00 fee from the buyer to add the pistol to their permit(that would be me.)

After everything was done and we headed over to the bank, so I could pay him for the pistol he was so surprised how that worked and I said yes, I told him I had found out about this not too long ago from my landlord who has done this before...the guy was so surprised that he could do this. he says to me. I tell you what since you showed me how to do this. I let you have the pistol for $425.00 instead of $450.00.

So I said you sure I am willing to pay the $450.00 for the pistol. he said no I am ok with the price plus you help me out where Gander Mountain would not plus you showed me something I never knew was possible...I said your Welcome and said I was not sure if this work the same in all other Counties, but I do know it does work here in Clinton County.

Well, all in all, we were both happy on how things seem to work out in the end, and now I have another new pistol, and the guy got what he really wanted for his pistol even though I know he should have gotten more for it, but he was just willing to take a loss on money wise towards the pistol but not for a company that basically would buy his pistol for practically nothing and then resell it for twice as much as what they would have paid him for it...

Here is a couple pictures of my newly acquired Taurus Raging Bull 44 Magnum..

Not bad. These sell new on Gunbroker for a little over $500 fairly regularly so you got a decent deal.

Question is...what the heck are you going to do with it? LOL

Not sure I use to have a Smith & Wesson Model 29 in a 44 magnum did not find it to bad and the Ranging Bull I know has a lot more weight to it so will just have to wait and see how the wrist will handle this beast, lol

Now I need to get some ammo for it,lol there is no one close to me that has any 44 magnum ammo might have to make a road trip to Williston,VT to the Powder Horn this week to gets some I know they have it..

Nice deal. I'll have to check it out sometime up to the range after this white stuff goes away. I've got some new guns too. We will have to have a range day, I know one of my friends wants to do that later too.
