i went to a gun store in middletown ny yesterday asked if they had any pre ban mags the guy anwered do you nhave a pre ban gun he would not sell me a mag for a post ban gun. My question is is he right or can you put a pre ban mag in a post ban gun

He is wrong. You do not need a preban gun for preban magazines. I would post the law but there is none lol.

Also never buy a preban mag at a gun store, they like to gouge people. I have seen preban ar mags for 70$ and preban flock for 70.- these often sell for 20 and 35. Crazy.
