Lever Action Scope

I've got a Marlin 1894c I'd like to scope. I am thinking this mount: Warne Maxima 1-Piece Aluminum Weaver-Style Scope Base Marlin 36 336

Looking for suggestions on the scope. For .357, I don't see shooting more than 100 yards, so 4x is probably about all I'd use. I am split between getting a 3-9x or just a fixed power 4x. In general I prefer fixed power scopes. The purpose of the rifle would be a plinker and a brush gun, maybe some groundhog work here and there.

Budget is $200 for scope and rings. I'd also like to keep the scope as light as possible, I don't want to add a lot of weight to a very handy rifle. I'm thinking Redfield Revenge 2-7x34mm is the top of the list, Vortex Crossfire II has my attention too.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I use this cheap scope on my K31 (7.5x55 swiss).

If you need a scout scope setup I recommend it. It's cheap, but holds up to a beating. I was shooting 1 MOA at 50 yards with it.
One other suggestion. I have skinner peep sights on my 20" 357 magnum Rossi. They work very well for me out to 100 yards. One other option if you are tired of your current iron sights, and they are in your budget. Good luck! If you are not target shooting I would try to get the most field of view. So it would be irons/red dot/ or 4X or lower power optics.
