How do you plan to block the gas port? It would seem to be the best and easiest way to get a straight pull AK. On an AR type I think it would be a bit simpler - there is already a pin through the block that holds the gas tube, so you can just pin in something solid into the block. On an AK, the piston rides inside the tube, and the block is pinned to the barrel (like the AR in most cases). Seems like it is going to take some modification of the gas block on the AK to get the gas shutoff. Just wondering how this is usually done.

Stop dreaming like a fool. ATF says, "Once a full auto, always a full auto." NYS takes the same approach to semiautos. My local gunshop in Guilderland, J&J, was put out of business because they were turning noncompliant AWs into compliant AWs.
Not exactly. NYS does not take that approach, but the Albany county DA Soares is an anti scumbag who will gladly use the tax payers money to harass gun dealers out of business on legal grounds that are shaky at best. Kathleen Rice tried that down in Nassau, and if I am not mistaken the county ended up reimbursing the gun dealers for their legal costs when the FFL won (eventually).

In probably half of the 62 counties in NY gun dealers will be either left alone or welcomed with open arms. Albany is definitely not in the better half though.
