I'm getting realy bored shooting paper at longisland public ranges, I need a little bit of a change.

I keep reading about all these "honey holes" upstate, and realy realy want to just be able to plink on public land.

I'm looking for somthing almost down state. (coming from eastern suffolk)

If its just a "spot down the road", can I get gps coordinates?

Well, best way I found to do it is to take a ride off the beaten path, take the roughest looking dirt roads you can come across and wait until you can see a "State Land" sign and make sure there are no "No Trespassing" signs up, make sure you are far enough away from house and bookmark that place in your GPS, set up or find a nice backdrop and you are set.

I wonder if it's legal to shoot in the Long Island State Pine Barrens Preserve. A call to the Suffolk County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation (631-854-4949) may shed some light on that, or where else there is to sight in.

You could always join the military.
Well, thats the plan, but I still have to wait another year.
For now, a spot on public land will do just fine.
