From my many romps into the depths of the internet, I get the general feeling that there are a higher than avage number of people worrying about a SHTF type senero...

So, do u have that feeling? If so what senero do u see happening?

Mine would be one of two:

Either a war in the middle east, or a complete failure of the world's ecomeny...proably within the next year..:err:

I'm preparing for whatever comes..just think it is likely to be war or econimic collaspe....followed by war..IMHO, it just seems like alot of people are talking about it..might have something to do with the doomsday preppers show bringing attention to it, but I noticed it long before that show came on the air..

Just watched movie Contagion not too long ago.
Pand it sure looked real and more then likely to happen.
Like H7N3..big outbreak of that in Mexico right now..this isn't as bad as the H5 virus, at least not yet..

The war in the middle east would be one that encompessed the entire region...Russia, China, Iran and Syria are all getting together later next month to stage war games..in Syria...

Yes the ecomey isn't good, but it will get much worse before long..it hasn't collasped..yet.

As far as our manufactoring base..it might surprise you by how fast they can be cranked up for war production..we still manufactor most of our tanks, ships, small arms and ammo here...we still have the largest naval force in the world...some companies are starting to move factories back from Asia..granted it is not alot of them yet, but the trickle will turn into a flood if a war breaks out....we are more at risk for nuclear attacks now than we ever were during the cold war..:)

It's important to remember that although we may not suffer the direct effects of a particular disaster we may very well experience secondary effects.
Almost every conceivable disaster shares the same after effects; prolonged interruption in the delivery of food and fuel, possible interruption of the power grid and breakdown in social order.
Prepare to meet those challenges and you've got most scenarios covered.
Ya, and we're one step closer with the ruling on the healthcare bill..SCOTUS really screwed up this time...:unhappy:

Personally, from being there when 9/11 happened , as well as going to NOLA shortly after Katrina, I feel we we have already seen SHTF situations! From the revolutionary and civil wars to all our natural disasters, fires , race riots etc... What worries me is the increasing rate and varied things that are coming up lately. One crisis is potentially controllable to some extent but a combination is what puts the spin factor on it. Prepardness is what will make a difference individually. For those of us in more rural areas I think we will have better luck with the necessities. Although govt resources will be in more populated areas, in the early there will be a breakdown of that during initial assessment phase. Local govt with community help will and is the backbone. When there is a SHTF , I would not want to be in a city environment. Just my 2cents here.
Well said..I wouldn't be near a city with any size to it...If you live in a city, get a bol you can get to fast..

It starts with little things like this:

Shop windows smashed, fires reported as Anaheim protest turns violent - U.S. News

And grows into bigger movements as it picks up steam...I don't think our federal government knows how angrey and tired the general population is with it's heavy handed tatics...the occupy movement is another example of the anger of this nation...Amish arn't as well prepared as most of you think...they rely on the modern world just as much as we do..they use gas to power their generators and chainsaws...propane to run their lights....they may not notice when the lights go off, but they sure will when they can't get someone to take them to get supplies...

I always wondered what they did with all the plywood they bought for these hurricane preps, and then didn't need. A smart person would shove it into the rafters for the next time, but, everytime you'd see a mad dash for plywood, and prices here would go up 3-4 dollars a sheet. Amazing..
