Welcome aboard. You will find lots of good shooting clubs and events around CNY. Oneida Rifle Club and Greenway-Verona Mills are close to Oneida. Both have indoor pistol ranges so get going on that pistol permit.

Speaking of ranges, since you're in the liverpool area, once you get a pistol permit you can join the Syracuse Pistol Club if you don't plan on shooting centerfire rifles or shotguns. Then depending how far you want to travel, there's Clay Sportsmen, Pathfinder, Otisco, Elbridge (wouldnt recommend that one, though) and there's a few others I am missing.
