Hello there,
My name is William and I am a firearms enthusiast considering a move north of the Mason-Dixon. Specifically Ulster County. I would appreciate any info from members from that area about Gun clubs and Firearm dealers. I have much concern that I will no longer be able to enjoy my shooting sport and want reassurance. Thank you for any information, I hope to make new connections; perhaps even a few new shooting buddies!

Hi there William. Welcome to the forum.
I live in Ulster County. Finding a place to shoot can be tricky. There are private clubs, but most of them have long waiting lists right now. Also most of them have some requirements such as work hours and mandatory monthly meetings, as well as being fairly expensive to begin with. From the southern end of Ulster where I am there are two indoor ranges about an hour south that you can pay by the hour. One of them is a pistol only range at 25yds, and the other is a 100yd range that does allow rifles. In the northern end of Ulster co. I know High Woods Sportsmans club is always accepting new members. They are a small club, but their prices and requirements are more forgiving than most. I was a member there when I lived in that area. I'm not sure what other clubs have spots open right now, but this link would be a good place to start, especially depending on where in Ulster CO. you're going to be.

Honestly I never go shooting at all. I used to practice often , but I've become a collector and not a shooter these days simply because there just aren't any good places for me personally.
As far as dealers, there are some around. There are some good ones and some to avoid like the plague.

Anyway, welcome aboard, and feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.

Hello William and welcome to the board. I have a question, why move from a FREE state to the People's Republic of New Yorkistan? Many of us would prefer moving away and not into NY.
