I am headed to the mall in Danbury today. I dont have a CT permit but I would like to have my pistol with me for when I cross back over the border to New York.
What do I need to know about transport laws and such? Keep the gun and ammo both locked in different locations? Trigger lock? No hollow points, etc.

Call their State police and ask.

Leave it home. You are stopping in ct. Without a permit. Federal transport law is if you are traveling through and start and end point you are licensed. What if your car is stolen or broken into? Now you have to explain why you have an unlicensed handgun in ct. Call if you want.

I agree with MDX.
and calling the State Police gets you NOTHING other than ONE Officer's understanding of the law.
how many threads are on here where we are discussing the fact that so many LEO's do NOT understand the law?
why take the chance?
