Google 'Pressure Cookers' and 'Backpacks,' Get a Visit from the Cops - Philip Bump - The Atlantic Wire

....Michele Catalano was looking for information online about pressure cookers. Her husband, in the same time frame, was Googling backpacks. Wednesday morning, six men from a joint terrorism task force showed up at their house to see if they were terrorists. Which prompts the question: How'd the government know what they were Googling?.....

I do all my weird searches from work also. But on a personal laptop, through a proxy.

I'd hate to know what they'd do considering all the porn some folks download.

In this nanny/police state we are living in, what did you expect.

I remember this one story (which I can't seem to find a link too) where a dad posted a picture on facebook of his son holding one of those smith and wesson .22 AR-15 style rifles. Some stupid soccer mom b*tch called CPS and they raided his house and demanded they see his guns and they didn't even have a WARRANT!!!!

This is really what our country has come to, huh? Where we throw innocent people in jail for victimless crimes, spy on our own law abiding, treat hunters and sportsmen like criminals, and have to have everything revolve around children.

Honestly, someone needs to fix this mess. RIGHT F*CKING NOW!!!

Yet the NSA will tell Congress they can't access their own email files to produce, but the powers that be can track 'backpack' and 'pressure cooker' being searched, and hold onto 15 years of internet history.

If I remember correctly, the Dad told the cops to go s**t in their hats. He wouldn't open his gun safe and told them to either procure a search warrant or gtfo.

The kid even had a junior firearms certification, so him holding the gun was perfectly legal.

People need to learn to mind their own business in this country. Excuse me, re-learn it, because that's the way things were for 250 years and it worked just fine.

He was searching pressure cooker bombs not just pressure cooker according to that image on the second link above. Not sure why you'd do a net search for a backpack. Who f-in cares if it is going to blow up? I doubt you will be hurting over saving 5 dollars.

Having said in high school, I did a lot of searching on atomic bomb history and testing. Found some joke website on how to make one. [I figured out a long time later, it was a joke, it was terribly over simplified]
