I purchased a Glock 19 the day my pistol permit letter came in 1 week ago today. I took it to the range last Friday with some Winchester WB FMJ and that new Sig Sauer V-Crown JHP stuff. The Winchester fed great, but I was having a couple failure to feed problems with the Sig ammo especially with the last round of the magazine.

I was able to replicate the issue at home by loading 1 round in and trying to both drop the slide on it or manually cycle it. The face of the round digs right into the feed ramp and sticks every time. Purchased some Federal HST - same issue, all three mags.

Did a bunch of research online and apparently there is a known issue with the Glock 19 and 10 round magazine with the 2183-2 follower. The last round does not sit up as high and the G19 barrel doesn't cant as much as other barrels - causing the FTF with that specific follower/magazine. It is thought that the 10-round magazines have the 2183-2 follower because with the standard 9mm3 or 9mm6 followers, it may be possible to jam in an 11th round?

I called Glock and explained the issue and he didn't even ask anything further - he knew what was up. Took my address and how many mags I have and said he will get me new followers for free.

I will update this post with some pictures when I get my new followers in. Anyone else experience this issue?

I have a gen3 19. Never had a problem eating anything I feed it, including cheap hp's and steel case tula and wolf.
Same here. My gen 3 has had no problems at all with any of the 10 rounders that I've acquired.

Glad to hear that Glock customer service is willing to make things right quickly and free of charge.

When my G19 was brand new, there were a few times when it would not feed Federal HST if I tried to close the slide using the slide stop. It would always feed by racking the slide. Never a problem with fmj. After several hundred rounds of fmj it fed reliably recently when I would chamber a Federal HST by closing the slide using the slide stop. I think these guns wear in a little, and the fmj's probably have a slight polishing effect on the feed ramp.

I really like the gen 4 G19, I think it's very reliable and accurate.

I have heard of this, and witnessed a G26 in a class that was consistently jamming on the last round in the mag. The instructor at the time told the student that you can only load 9 rounds in Glock magazines; that didn't sound like something I agreed with, but I didn't have a lot of experience at the time. The G26 I owned fed reliably out of all the mags I had, but I think they had 9mm3 followers, though I could be wrong about that.

At any rate, its good to know this for future reference. Thanks for posting. I'm going to edit the title a little and sticky this, this is valuable information for Glock owners in NY.

My G26 mags are always loaded with 10, never had an issue.

Had this same problem with my 19 Gen4 when it was new. Glock sent me three "9mm3" followers for the mags I had at the time. I should have asked for more, but I have two new mags with the "2183-2" followers and the gun doesn't have issues with those. Could be the high round count it has.

My new G19 won't load a single hollowpoint from a magazine, but it hasn't had any issues when shooting. I have noticed if I load 2 or 3 in the mags it will feed the hollowpoints fine. The other thing I've noticed is the springs are insanely tight, such that loading 10+1, the second round to be fired (the first from the magazine) sometimes fails to feed with very weak ammo (my reloads). I increased the power of my reloads and don't see this anymore, and did not see it with any factory ammo. But the springs loaded with 10 are tougher than any other pistol magazine I've dealt with.

I'll probably get some of these followers anyway.

Fine it hard to believe they haven't addressed this problem as of now.
The only explanation I've found for this online was: "It is thought that the 10-round magazines have the 2183-2 follower because with the standard 9mm3 or 9mm6 followers, it may be possible to jam in an 11th round?"

Not sure how true that really is, but seems like Glock would rather just replace the ones that actually have issues for customers than change all of the 10-rd mags.

Mark30, you hit the nail right on the head.
I took a Glock armorers course last year and heard the same.
BTW I have a Glock 19 Gen 4 and have 4 mags with
2183-2 followers, no problems with HP's or FMJ.
I shoot Federal, PMC and Winchester
