Would an extra powerful recoil spring cycle my action faster or make the gun jam from not cycling back far enough?
Anyone tried these extra power wolff springs on their AKs before? I got some from here for my M1 Universal Carbine and they work great, just wanted to ask people on here if this would actually increase my SAR-1 performance in any way or if I should just save my money.

Depends on the ammo most likely.
Just standard FMJ tula stuff, considering buying it I heard it can cycle faster and absorb more recoil with a tougher spring, I got M1 springs from them and they worked pretty good. I guess no harm done if I end up having to switch back.
Have you tried a recoil buffer for your SAR-1? I've got a red star arms one and it's great, especally shooting Silver Bear match 124gr. which 'feels' hotter than the Banual 123gr. JHP I've ran through her.
No I haven't tried that yet, thanx for the suggestion, maybe I'll try both and see what happens lol.
You want your action to cycle faster is that why you want a different spring?
If you want your action to cycle faster ditch the tulammo for something else. It's not loaded as hot as other brands. Get some yugo surplus, WPA or golden tiger. All loaded millspec
BTW most Russian Army AK's had relativley weak springs mostly from wear. They would get new magazine in slam the buttstock in their chest so the bolt would go back and strip and chamber a round, works pretty fast.
I had cycle issues with my new WASR a couple years ago. I got one of the extra power wolfe springs (recommended by bpipe95) and that fixed my issues with my bolt. I would recommend grabbing that.
Also, AK's shouldn't use recoil buffers. They can lead to cycle issues, leave the gun as is since it was designed to kick the bolt back in a "powerful/violent" way. Just grab the extra power spring and you'll be good to go.

300 rounds BEFORE I used the extra power spring: frequent bolt jams/sticking issues from cycling and reloading
2000+ rounds AFER installing the extra power spring: 0 bolt jams/sticking issues from cycling and reloading
Make sure your guns lubed up correctly too.

Good advice. the recoil buffers in the market are too thick and soft. One should find a hard one and cut right in the middle. In other words, you could make two of one otherwise they will lead to cycling issues.Also, AK's shouldn't use recoil buffers. A good factory spring up to spec is all is needed. A tad harder spring will not hurt that is for sure.
I might grind down the recoil buffers a little if they mess with my cycle, my goal for this is to decrease the felt recoil and muzzle jump, with the springs/buffer, get a krebs extended safety lever and an extended mag release so that my AK is totally the way I want it
Keep in mind, every time the rifle is fired, there are two things accelerating the bolt; the pressure from the gas against the piston, and the spring pushing forwards. A heavier spring is going to accelerate forwards faster, where the gas isn't going to change all that much. If you just get a heavier spring and throw it in there, there's a pretty good chance you're going to be cycling shorter. A softer spring may cause the bolt to strike the rear trunnion, which is also bad. The AK is designed so that the bolt goes nearly all the way rearward before it runs out of steam and the spring returns it to battery.
Now, if you want to make your gun cycle faster, increasing the amount of gas pressure applied to the piston in accordance with the weight of the spring, and possibly trimming some weight off the bolt carrier may just do it. But you probably won't notice the difference, and there's still a good chance you're going to screw something else up. Could slamfire from the bolt moving faster, could outrun your magazines, and probably would increase wear, maybe damage rivets.
Better yet, get an AR, which already is faster, and JP makes a special low-mass higher springrate carrier/buffer/spring combo that may just get your rifle to cycle unnecessarily snappy.

II was just wondering if the springs would be a good idea to help with cycle time or recoil hitting the stock of the gun (and therefore my shoulder which makes multiple shots on target take longer to re-align) I may just skip it if no real improvements will come from it, still deciding on the buffer, if it will cushion the rear of the gas cover from the bolt carrier hitting it at all it may be a good idea. Besides that just the extended mag release and AK safety and itll be the most ergonomic an AK can be,
