D.C. lawyers are asking a federal judge who overturned the city's ban on carrying handguns in public to reconsider his ruling, arguing that the basis for his original ruling was rooted in questionable legal foundations.

Last month, U.S. District Judge Frederick Scullin Jr., a federal judge appointed to preside over the Northern District of New York, ruled that D.C.'s complete ban on carrying handguns in public is unconstitutional. He ultimately said D.C. has until Oct. 22 before the new law goes into effect, giving the city a little time to craft legislation to create a new licensing mechanism that is consistent with his ruling.

Today, the city is, as expected, hoping the ruling will be scrapped altogether, the Legal Times first reported. In a motion for reconsideration, the city argues that, contrary to Scullin's ruling, the second amendment does not actually guarantee the right to carry a firearm in public.

Haha, really how often do judges just come back a few weeks later and say "guys, you know what, I just missed this one entirely. Ruling reversed!".

'In a motion for reconsideration, the city argues that, contrary to Scullin's ruling, the second amendment does not actually guarantee the right to carry a firearm in public.'

2A explicitly says the right to keep and BEAR arms. If the city of DC does not recognize and conform to 2A then they breach BOR as a whole and no longer can be considered a functional government. No Constitution = No Government.

They are criminals pretending to be the Government and must be disposed off immediately.

I motion to ask the colonials if they had the right to carry their firearms in public. Hell, some states even had programs to provide people with guns.

What ever these people are smoking I sure don't want any ! To say they are stupid is like saying they are just a little off ( we know they are way off ) they are just wasting time trying everything till SCOTUS weighs in and kicks their ass again ! This lawyer the city has is really pushing his luck cause the last time he liked to have lost his job because of the constant fooling around this time he just might get thrown on the trash heap for good !
