I live in Albany but my legal address is still in Greene.

So give me the rundown. Weapon costs aside, how much is going for my permit gonna set me back?

Do I HAVE TO have a pistol purchased before hand?

Non- family and county resident references only?

Any answers/advice appreciated. I want to gather as much info as possible before starting the process. On a side note the whole process itself is an infringement which is why i havnt went forward yet. Im starting to think waiting around to wait is better than waiting around to not wait. (just blew my own mind)

and GO!

Yes non family and county references are the norm as far as costs go my cost in Erie county were around $75 - $100 for the PP class, $100 for fingerprinting, $10 for photos, I think their was a $40 app fee and a $10 investigation fee with my local PD besides that be prepared to lose a few hours at work here and there. The best advice I can give is to be VERY picky when it comes to the references you select because any inaction or procrastination on their part can delay the process my PP has been delayed almost a year because I've had to change 2 references for various reasons and I've also heard many people have been denied because of their references so choose wisely. Other than that stay on top of things as best as you can and be patient good luck!

The references i have in mind have zero criminal history of any sort. Besides traffic or whatever.

Greene county is one of the easiest to get a permit. I would definitely do it, wait time should no more than 4 months. Hell you might even get a full carry on the 1st try.
Just got mine a couple months ago only way new judge was giving out full carry was based on experience if ur we're LE or Military
very nice guy told my wife if she wanted a full carry to do a secondary course and he would gladly give a full carry
turn around time from when paper work was in to permit in my hand was 3 months
but Sgt Bolz said that was really quick not a lot of permits in at the time

hope this helps good luck
