I sent an email to Senator Mark Grisanti (my rep) asking for his support to fight S1422-2013, the first version of the Safe Act before Gov **** pushed the final version through. I got a response from Joe Erdman, Grisanti's butt slave or something.

Senator Grisanti received your email and asked me to get back to you,
first let me thank you for your service. I can tell you that Senator
Grisanti does not support S. 1422 and views this bill as misguided and a
knee jerk reaction to a horrible tragedy. New York state already has one
of the toughest gun control laws in the nation. We are keenly aware that
this legislation would have a devastating impact on millions of lawful gun
owners in New York and be a clear violation of the Second Amendment.
Again, thank you for writing Senator Grisanti and please feel free to
reach out on anytime on this or any other issue you see fit.

Yours.
Joe Erdman

Feeling confident that at least my senator was standing behind me, I continued the fight elsewhere. When the night of long knives as I call it happened, I was surprised to say the least that my sentator outright lied to me, and voted for the SAFE act.

By helping to pass S1422-2013, you have betrayed your constituents. You promised your support to fight this bill. Shame on you Mr. Grisanti, and damn you to hell!

  • Mark Grisanti
William that bill did not pass. It is a totally different bill.

  • William Burnham
Do you have any common decency?! S2230-2013 is almost exactly the same bill! The only difference is that it bans any magazine over seven rounds, and if the only gripe between you and S1422-2013 was how MORE restrictive it could have possibly been, then you should have said that! You are a snake Mr. Grisanti, and come next election you better be prepared to deal with the consequences of your actions!

  • Mark Grisanti
I suggest you read the entire bill and look at the protections for Pistol Permit Holders, stronger mental health checks, and stricter criminal penalties.

  • William Burnham
I have read the bill multiple times, probably more times than you did before you voted on it.
I have to take a moment to actually laugh at the idea that you believe requiring pistol permit holders (who must already wade through insane waiting periods, inconsistent inter-state laws, overly scrupulous background checks, and a shady approval system that at its best is biased while being treasonous at worst for denying people with no criminal background whatsoever from carrying a pistol) to go through all of the above every five years is a "Protection" of their rights.
The mental health sections of the act are the only part of it that everyone agrees is at least partly common sense. However, arming biased courts with political agendas with the confidential mental health information of law abiding citizens (which can also become public knowledge to some degree or another through freedom of information requests) and possibly disenfranchising people who just needed to speak to a therapist and didn't realize that their health care providers were vehemently opposed to the 2nd amendment in general is an UNCONSCIONABLE act. As a disabled veteran I know that it's hard enough to get returning soldiers with PTSD and TBI into clinics to talk about their problems. This law adds the worry that they will become targeted by politicians and DA's looking to make a name for themselves.
Lastly, the "stricter" criminal penalties that you mentioned. Every person hates it when a criminal gets caught red handed in the act only to be cut loose by a lazy DA, but are mandatory jail sentences really the answer? Zero tolerance may cut it for New York City, but the rest of us would like a Democratic legal system that bends when necessary to take mitigating or aggravating circumstances into account. Also, combined with the other sections of the SAFE act, many of tomorrows "criminals" will be the responsible law abiding, tax paying gun owners of yesterday.
Your laws have helped turn a million person New York community into second class citizens and criminals. What bothers me most Mr. Grisanti isn't that you voted for this legislation, it would have passed without your help. My issue with you is that you PROMISED your constituents that you would fight against S1422-2013 and any other similar bill that persecutes gun owners, but then went back on that promise and helped doom us. At least with Antoine Thompson we would have known beforehand what to expect. Enjoy that office while you have it Mark, I'm going to do everything in my power and the power of other like minded individuals to take it from you.

  • Mark Grisanti
I am still opposed to S1422 which called for CONFISCATION of weapons, 5 round clips and you were only allowed to own 3 fire arms. These bills are vastly different.

    ~2 Months goes by~

  • William Burnham
Hey buddy! Just wanted to make sure you knew, you have another chance to "protect" all of us law abiding gun owners!

S2028-2013 - NY Senate Open Legislation - Bans the sale, use or possession of 50-caliber weapons - New York State Senate
Try to include a "witch hunt" provision that lets them burn us to death like they did to Christopher Dorner. Have fun!

    _______

    I'm still awaiting a response.

^ THIS! It is definitely working. The most important thing we can do is keep constant pressure on them. Only when they see that we will NEVER stop might they repeal this law.

I am impressed you actually had personal interaction with him. Thanks
I've met the man before. I even helped him get elected last time. I don't have any tolerance for liars, he's painted a target on his back, and I'm not stopping until his political career is ruined and he's sleeping in a cardboard box under the peace bridge.
